Expert Lecture on Thin film growth of spintronics materials and their characterization

Amity School of Applied Science, Amity University Gurgaon organized an expert lecture on Thin Film Growth of Spintronics Materials and their Characterization by Dr Ram Janay Choudhary (Senior Scientist at IUC-DAE-CSR IndoreIUC-DAE-CSR Indore) on 7th September 2017.

Dr Choudhary had discussed towards the development of know-how in materials fabrication and devices technologies of different types. Dr Choudhary discussed various techniques used for the thin films deposition. He discussed the benefits and drawbacks of many deposition techniques such as electron beam evaporation, sputtering, magnetron sputtering and pulsed laser deposition. He also discusses the various parameters such as substrate temperature, oxygen partial pressure which play a key role in the quality of the film growth. He also discusses the how we can choose the substrate for growing the epitaxial thin films. He also told how XRD is useful to get information about the crystal structure of the films.

Dr Choudhary guided students that research in materials science provides the training in device technology for various applications. Particularly, the DMS materials have been projected to manifest various intriguing novel applications. These materials can be employed for magneto-optic semiconductors, enhanced data speed, qubits, non-volatile RAM, a decrease in power consumption, increased integration densities compared to conventional semiconductor devices and so on.
