Renvoi - 2019

Saving trees by Using E-Books is the Leading Thought at ‘13th Renvoi 2019’ Organized at Amity University

The 13th edition of the Annual Case-Study Conference “Renvoi - 2019”, organized by Amity Business School (ABS), provided broad coverage and dissemination of Foundational Research. Participants were given an opportunity to present and publish their original research cases, exchange their views and also to network at the forum. The day-long conference was organized to help students develop a strategic mindset for a market oriented culture that also saw nuances of the business world.

With organizations in the world facing unprecedented challenges and issues that require human sensitivity with tactic precision, the conference looked to highlight such real life challenges. ABS also collaborated with The Case Centre in the United Kingdom who agreed to list the case studies submitted to them. Participation from Industry, Academicians, Research Scholars and Post Graduate Students was invited in the form of Case Studies for the conference that saw 42 entries from both national and international arena including Belgium, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Amity University in Tashkent.

Mr. Peter Vogelsang, International Academician shared with the students on the need for enhancing their skills to be ready for the present and future job market. “What students learn in colleges these days is not enough for the jobs they are hired for. Universities in general are lacking or are not spending enough time on critical soft skills that the employers are more interested in. Emotional Quotient, empathy and integrity are some of the skills that universities rarely play attention to. With Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality, world is getting more complex. Disruption in business is shaking their fundamentals and skills needed to cope with these changes are what students need to get trained by their universities,” said Mr. Vogelsang.

He further proposed to the gathering to promote collaborative and interdisciplinary research as a learning opportunity. Sharing with students means to come up with interesting case studies, Mr. Vogelsang asked students to make use of images, keep their language simple and elaborate on the consequences of the case study to make it more intriguing to read.

Prof (Dr.) Krishna Kumar, Formerly Professor & Dean, IIM, Lucknow and Former Director, IIM, Kozhikode asked the students to make their case studies interesting right from the first page to catch the attention of the reader. He also advocated the need to promote mobile-enabled learning and also make more use of e-books and e-materials to reduce the cost of course materials. “We are felling trees for course material that can be provided to students through e-books or e-materials and print only what is utmost necessary. This will also reduce the cost of course material to almost by 1/10th,” shared Professor Kumar.

Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Bansal, Dean FMS & Director, ABS and Chairperson, 13th Renvoi – 2019 asked students not to go by perceived notions as he has learnt from being a student of research. “Research has taught me a number of things including questioning. And the concept of case study, perceived to be a modern one, has roots going back to the 11th century,” said Prof. (Dr.) Bansal while declaring 13th Renvoi 2019 open. The conference also saw the release of Case Study books.
