2nd Edition of the Technology Conference “INFINITY 2019”
Amity Business School (ABS) commenced its 2nd Edition of the Technology Conference “INFINITY 2019” on the Theme “Emerging and Converging Technologies: Business Implications of Cyber Physical Systems” at University Campus Sector 125 Noida.
The main objective of the two day conference is to discuss and deliberate upon the Emerging and Disruptive Technologies and their Business Implications with an intention to showcase academic and corporate viewpoints, research work and discussions relevant to the theme.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that when information technology and communications came together, it became ICT and the technology didn’t belong to one particular industry but has impacted every sector and the job roles. She mentioned that with every industrial revolution, job profiles had also evolved. “Now, the industry expects industry-ready professionals and the responsibility falls upon the shoulders of educational institutions to teach and train the students as per the needs, that is imbibing industry skills with business understating” Dr. Shukla stressed that industry won’t hire employees who cannot add any value to their current system and called upon the students to be technology savvy and gain knowledge about working of changing technologies, further analyzing the data and coming up with solutions for aiding the society.
Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Bansal, Director ABS and Chairperson INFINITY 2019 aprrised that during the two days of the conference, there will be expert talks, paper & article presentations and is attended by distinguished speakers, delegates and executives from Industry, Academia, Government and Research Organizations. Dr. Bansal mentioned that its is expected that the discussion will be in alingment to Amity’s re-ivented curriculum.
Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, President-Aeris Communications, Chairman IET IoT Panel India, Mentor – AnglePaisa apprised that Internet of Things (IoT) has been a catalyst in leading the wave of transformational change in bringing the 3rd industrial revolution. “Human minds are maturing at a rapid speed since the 1st revolution took place in 18th century, which is 100years after human existence, but the 2nd industrial revolution occurred after 150 years followed by 3rd industrial revolution in just next 25 years.” He remarked that in present times, the revolution is happening every day and advised the students to inculcate the quality of re-skilling, un-skilling and again re-skilling to fit into the ever evolving technological era. He stating that a revolution includes three important aspects, that is, increase of productivity to nth time, change in business models and change in functioning of society. Dr. Bhatnagar mentioned that IoT is not only about things but service and its impact can be seen on businesses as well as our lives. “By 2020, the global market for IoT solutions will grow from 655.8billion dollars (in 2014) to 1.7trillion dollars.”
Presenting the findings of a survey, Dr. Bhatnagar lamented that 87% of manufacturers have not yet taken advantage of IoT to transform their facilities and 13% which had implemented IoT solutions have reported increased efficiencies, fewer product defects and higher customer satisfaction. He called upon the budding professionals to ensure that India leads the coming IoT revolution and exclaimed that it can only be possible through collaborative efforts of Government, Industry and Academia. IoT is not just a technology or business model but a way forward.
Stating that currently the job market is in deep slump, Mr. Atul Govil, Chief Transformation Officer, Head (SAP & IT), India Glycols Limited questioned the students what should budding professionals look for when the job market is low? Providing a sigh of relief to the students, he responded “the current skilled workforce is now at the verge of superannuation and the new generation professionals can venture into the industries with ‘digital first’ mindset.” He further explained that the new-age technology is something new for the experience professionals, thereby, the industry is seeking for young professionals who have the necessary skills and training in technology. “Nurture you technology based skillset as it will become an asset for your future career.” he advised.
Mr. Yogendra Rajput, Director-Consulting Services, MapleCloud Tech Services Pvt Ltd. lauded the government initiatives towards smart cities and shared that many IoT devices has been installed which monitors and ensured the proper functioning at cities. Talking about Industrial Revolution 4.0, he mentioned that innovation and data are the essential part of the revolution but now, the focus should be on cyber security. He informed that the industry is looking for security experts and there will be high demand for information-security professionals in coming years.
Taking forward the vision of Amity towards protecting environment and sustainable growth, the delegates and students took a pledge to ‘Go Green’ during the inaugural session.
During the two day conference, more than 200 scholars across the nation will be presenting their research papers.
