Amitians pledge towards Fitness during Fit India Movement Campaign at Amity University
During the launch of ‘Fit India Movement’ campaign initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of National Sports day, Amity University organized a live telecast of the programme for its students, faculty members and staff.
Thousands of Amitians attended the program and pledged to take care of their health and physical well-being. Amity University has always been an ardent promoter of sports and extracurricular activities with an aim to take the nation forward on the path of fitness, wellness and also to provide a unique and exciting opportunity to work towards a healthy India. Some programs conducted by the University include Sangathan as its annual sports event. The University not only focuses on the physical well-being but also emphasizes on psychological and mental health, and for that Amity has its Yoga Centre and conducts free meditation sessions for all students and staff.
Mayank Sharma 1st year student from Amity School of Engineering and Technology, appreciated the initiative taken by the University and said that taking care of one’s fitness is of utmost importance to combat the surging lifestyle diseases which have become quite common these days.
Yash Bhardwaj, 2nd year student of Amity Institute of Biotechnology, lauded the efforts made by PM Modi to make the people conscious of the need for being fit. He said that Amity University encourages its students to be physically competent and mindful, by regular exercises and activities.
Amity University urged all the participants to make an attempt to walk at least 10,000 steps today and also as a daily routine and lifestyle.
