Dhananjay Mohan Inter School Science Symposium
In order to instill among the scientific temper students and to encourage them to pursue scientific research, Amity International School, Noida organized the Dhananjay Mohan Inter School Science Symposium on the theme “Science for people and people for science” as an Annual Competition in Applied Science and Technology.
The symposium aimed at inculcating scientific temper among the students and zeal to pursue science in their career. More than 50 Students from 24 schools across Delhi-NCR participated in the competition. A total of 23 e-papers and 16 Scientific projects were presented and displayed by the students. The e-paper presentations were based on topics like Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), Ethical aspects of Artificial Intelligence, Transportation and technology.
Dr. (Mrs.) Renu Singh, Principal, AIS Noida lauded the students for their enthusiastic participation in the symposium. Further explaining the significance of the symposium, she said that the programme was organized to empower every child to develop scientific temper and also encouraged them to probe deeper into the realms of scientific research.
Addressing the students, Dr. Fahim Durani, Senior Scientist, DRDO (Ministry of Defence) exclaimed that listening to the ideas of young minds and budding scientists a great experience in itself. Further extending his gratitude to our former president and great scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam he told the students to look forward to their career in the areas of science. Explaining about defence application researches, he shared that defence technologies are tougher to work with as it demands working on the ideas of the future. These technologies are not to be at par with the adversaries but are to be ahead of them. For finding answers to such challenges, he urged the young minds to be on the lookout for it and apply science for humanity. He concluded by quoting the eminent physicist- Edward Teller- “Science for today is the technology for tomorrow.”
Ansh Deo Singh and Priyanshu Bhandari from Class 12th of Amity International School, Gurugram sec- 46 said that being a part of this symposium is a great privilege as one gets the opportunity to come across the ideas and thoughts of others. Their e-paper presentation dealt with the idea of Artificial Intelligence and the ethical issues related with it.
Anshul Gupta and Mridul Pandey from Class 11th of Amity International School, Pushp Vihar in the project presentation had created a device which could detect nutrition deficiency in plants via light projection and algorithms. They said that such symposiums are a great opportunity to test our scientific acumen.
Ujjwal Gaur and Anurag Jha from Class 12th of Greenfield Public School, Delhi presented their e-paper presentations on cleaner transportation and use of alcohol as an alternative of non-renewable sources of energy such as petrol and diesel.
The first position for “E-Paper Presentation Award” was bagged by Amity International School, Noida, the first runner up was Amity International School Sector 46 Gurugram and third prize was awarded to Model School Barakhamba. The “Project Presentation award” was won by Modern School, Barakhamba Road, Delhi.
