One Week Workshop on ‘Yoga For Health’
The One-Week long National Workshop on ‘Yoga for Health’ organized by Amity Centre for Yoga Education, Therapy and Research (under the aegis of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of AYUSH, GOI) concluded today at Amity University, Noida Campus.
Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Scientific, Technological and Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) said through yoga we can create a new world-order. He averred that Yoga in itself is a way of life and by constantly practicing yoga we can establish harmony between the body and the mind. He apprised that Amity University has launched a B.Sc. (Honors) programme in Yoga through which the students can achieve specialization in this domain.
Citing statistics of the WHO, Sh. Atul Nasa, Head, Drug Control Department, Delhi pointed out that more than 50% of the young generation is suffering from hypertension and diabetes. Emphasizing upon the importance of Yoga, he averred that most of the young populace is suffering from life-style diseases which are posing a big threat globally. He remarked that practicing Yoga daily not only boosts the immune system but also renders surreal joy. He said that Yoga makes a person positive towards life and curbs the aggression within and concluded by citing the lines of Bhagavad Gita, “Yoga is the journey of the Self, to the Self, through the Self.”
Ms. Sahar Gharachorloo, Founder, Energy Healing Bliss & Esitas Life Coaching Pvt. Ltd demonstrated various methods of doing meditation. She defined meditation as an art of watching the self and stressed that reaching the no-thought state is the utmost stage of peaceful meditation. She averred that meditation is the way of being and a tool to know your real self.
Talking about the benefits of Yoga, Srila B A Paramadaiti Swami Maharaj, Yoga Inbound India apprised that Yoga teaches us self-control through which we can control our body, mind and thoughts.. Yoga not help in attaining the wisdom but also teaches the real meaning of love and bhakti.
During the occasion, Goswami Sushil Maharaj, National Convener Bhartiya Sarva Dharma Sansad (Indian Parliament of All Religion) shared his views on Karmayog and said “Yoga is not related to any religion. In fact, it is the religion of humanity because through this we can experience the divinity within us. Constant practice of yoga can keep us at bay from any kind of illness or diseases.” Goswami Sushil Maharaj called upon the participants to plant trees in order to re-vitalize the environment.
Hundreds of Faculty members, Students, Scientists, Research Scholars and Academicians participated in the week-long workshop and learned about the various yoga practices, taught to them by renowned yoga instructors.
Today, about 50 Students and Faculty members of Amity University participated in the International Yoga Day- 2019 event held at Rajpath.
