2nd day of INBUSH 2019-International Conference
The second day of INBUSH 2019-International Conference by Amity International Business School (AIBS) witnessed thought provoking, interesting and informative discussions and deliberations by leading Academicians and Corporate Leaders from India and abroad including USA, UK, Singapore, Italy, Afghanistan, France etc. on the theme “Globalization in Technology Driven Societies” at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus.
Discussing about globalization and the flux in the economy, Mr. Andreas Bauer, Senior Resident Representative, International Monetary Fund (IMF) proclaimed that ‘Globalization needs domestic integration.’ He stressed that for any country to develop holistically, its service sector needs to enhance and contribute a major portion to the economy. He apprised that the Asian countries were at the forefront of integration which could lead to more productive and better results. He said that every country must consolidate on the contemporary scenario when the communication technologies are improving, and language barriers are falling. He said that Digital Infrastructure and Skill development were the two major pre-requisites that are required to develop any economy and digital technology is softening the services and trade barriers. Asian countries provide more than half of the global ITC experts.
H.E Mr. Hector Cueva Jacome, Ambassador of Ecuador said that in the current scenario, technology has become the make or break factor for any economy. Discussing about the problems of the Latin American countries, he said that due to the lack of education and scarcity of English speakers, there is a hindrance in globalization. He exclaimed that India has the resources to bridge the gap between them.
Mr. Sunil Wadhwa, MD, General Electrics (T&D) said that ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’ and therefore, as globalization progresses there would be newer innovations and inventions. Talking about the global problems he asserted that Climate change is a major global issue and by developing new technologies and harnessing wind and solar power, we can curb the effects of global warming and other climatic disorientations. He exclaimed “We must make sure that energy reaches everyone.” Sharing his experience with the youngsters he said that technology should make our lives simpler so make sure you don’t make complicated technologies.
“Amity Gold Medal for Fostering International Diplomatic Relations with India” was conferred upon H.E. Mr. Hector Cueva Jacome, Ambassador of Ecuador.“Amity Global Corporate Excellence” was conferred upon Mr. Larry Stone, Chairman British Telecom India and Mr. Osama Al Ribi, Corporate HR Manager – Tabuk Pharma, Jordan.
“Amity Global Academic Excellence Awards” were conferred to Mr. Trevor Homes, VP. External Affairs, Dublin City University, Ireland.
“Amity Academic Excellence Awards” were given to Prof. R. Venkata Rao, Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University, Bangalore; Prof. Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor, Guwahati University; Prof. Chandra K. Jaggi, Department of Operational Research, University of Delhi and Prof. Pankaj Sinha, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi.
Mr. Sunil Wadhwa, Managing Director, GE (T&D) was honored with the “Amity Corporate Excellence Award.”
“Amity Excellence Award in Social Initiative” was bestowed to Mr. Navin Gulia, Author, Motivational Speaker & Social Worker. “Amity Excellence Award For Best Practices In “Logistics”” was handed over to P.F Aggarwal on behalf of Sh. V. Kalyana Rama, Chairman & Managing Director of Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR). “Amity Corporate Excellence Award” was conferred upon Dr. Sriharsha A Achar, is the Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Apollo Hospitals Group
“Amity Excellence Award for Best Practices in “Innovation and R&D”” was bagged by the Senior Officials of BHEL. “Amity Corporate Excellence Award for Best Practices in Logistics” was given to Mr. G.S Chawla, Managing Director, Ocean King Shipping Services Pvt. Ltd. “Amity Corporate Excellence Award for Most Strategic Private Wealth Management Brand “was handed over to Mr. Feroze Azeez, Deputy CEO, Anand Rathi Wealth Management. Award for “Amity Export Excellence” was conferred upon Mr. Rajeev Tandon, Head Skill Development, Shahi Exports.
Second plenary session was held on the theme – “Outstanding women leaders – Paradigm Shift for Shaping a Positive Future.” Women leaders from different domains participated in the panel discussion including Ms. Manisha Chaudhary, Director, Manan Books; Dr. Suman Sharma, Principal LSR College; Prof. (Dr) Nishtha Jaswal, Vice chancellor, National University of Law, Shimla, Prof Anne Soto Mayor, Professor at EPF and Ms. Barkha Dutt, Senior Journalist amongst others.
Sharing her views, Ms. Pooja Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation said that irrespective of your gender, if you have clear vision and indomitable spirit you can achieve success. She insisted that the women should create a robust mechanism which can help them achieve their goals. She said that she is a proud mother and that all mothers should ensure that there is no discrimination in the upbringing of children based on their gender.
Prof Anne Soto Mayor, Professor at EPF remarked that leadership and innovation are the qualities women have in themselves and their passion leads to purpose which helps in search for opportunities. Women must trust themselves for self-empowerment, however sometimes they need a push from family and work environment to succeed.
An announcement was made regarding International partnership between Amity University and Ulster University, U.K. and an MoU was also signed between them.
