The World Interfaith Harmony Week
As part of Amity Human Values Quarter, Amity School of Communication (ASCO) in collaboration with Abhigyane Foundation organized a program to commemorate “The World Interfaith Harmony Week” from 01 to 07 February 2019, on the theme Build Bridges Across Boundaries, through cultural, music and ideas exchange to know more about each other at Amity University, Noida.
The program was inaugurated with traditional dance performances wherein the students of India and Afghanistan portrayed their culture through Sufi performances. However, it was the fusion of the music of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan’s sitar and Ruhallah Sami’s and Asad Sakhi’s ‘Rabab’ which completely stole the show and left the audience mesmerized.
Professor R.K Dargon, Advisor, Amity School of Communication (ASCO), on the occasion, shared the views of the Founder President of Amity, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan that we must all be respectful towards our cultures and traditions. He said that without our values and sanskars we cannot call ourselves as holistic human beings.
Mr. Sediqullah Sahar, Education Attache, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, expressed his delight to witness such wonderful performances. He averred that as many Afghani students are studying in India we would like to look for new opportunities to upgrade India-Afghanistan relations. He said that one of the biggest lessons that we can learn from India is peace and harmony. According to him, illiteracy was the root cause of wars in Afghanistan and the only way to re-establish peace was educating the youths.
A couple of Afghani students studying in India also shared their views. Ms. Ameena, an exchange student from Afghanistan, said that India and Afghanistan have had good relations from the very beginning. She said that India has very quietly helped Afghanistan in several ways by building schools, hospitals, dams and helping them in any crisis.
Several Afghani students studying in India from different schools and universities and members of the Abhigyane Foundation were also present on the occasion.
