Mr. Neal Foster conferred upon Honorary Professorship during the Launch of Amity School of Drama

It was a momentous occasion today when Amity School ofDrama was launched and world renowned Actor andDirector - Mr. Neal Foster was conferred upon Honorary Professorshipin Amity School of Drama by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, AmityEducation Group; Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University UttarPradesh and Mrs. Pooja Chauhan,Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation.
Mr. Neal Foster is an eminentactor, director, producer and an entrepreneur of global repute and has carved aname for himself in many diverse fields of theatre.
Inaugurating Amity School of Drama, Dr. Ashok KChauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group said that theinstitution is established for the students of Amity University with multifoldcapabilities, capacities and virtues. He apprised that the aim of ASD is toprovide opportunities to students who aspire to pursue a professional careeraround drama, theatre, acting and film. Congratulating Prof. Neal Foster, Dr.Chauhan praised his dedication and hard work in producing world classquality plays that are enriching and entertaining as they showcase an art formthat can’t be replicated by digital technology.
Expressing his gratitude for the honour bestowed uponhim, Prof. Neal Foster thanked Mrs. Pooja Chauhan forfacilitating his production of play ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ inIndia. Debunking the popular notion in education circle that theattention span of children is limited to 8 minutes, hestressed that nowadays, the children are not exposed to things whichare of their interest and therefore their attention span reduces.Prof. Foster shared that his experience of working in the genre of children’s theater anddrama has taught that children should not be underestimated andemphasized that they have better understanding towards complex,challenging and difficult issues. He opines by exposing them children to drama,their attention and concentration increase manifold.
Congratulating Prof. Neal Foster for receiving thehonour, Mrs. Pooja Chauhan said that Birmingham Stage Company,founded by Mr. Neal Foster, is one of the world's leading producers of theatrewhich is known for engrossing and learning plays for children and theirfamilies. She lauded the efforts of Prof. Foster for introducing the younggenerations to the world of live performance by bringing alive mostcherished stories through his magical production. She expressed her hope thatthe students of Amity will learn about the nuances of Theatre and Drama fromProf. Foster that will aid them in their respective professional careers.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Col.) R K Dargan,Advisor, Amity School of Communications said that theatre is thebackbone of performing arts and is the most effective tool for communications.He pointed out that a society is not culturally rich if it lacks creativewealth. Expressing his joy over Amity School of Drama being launched aspart of Amity School of Communications, he stressed that ASD is result ofthe futuristic vision of respected Founder President and Chancellor of AmityUniversity Uttar Pradesh. It is another new beginning towards the mission ofproviding holistic growth to every student of Amity.
