Referring to Dr. Chauhan as the Founder of first ever International University originated from India while delivering his acceptance speech, Dr. Jitendra Singh thanked Amity University for recognizing his life time work and honoring him for the same. Engaging with students and flagging off current issues plaguing Indian education sector, Hon’ble Minister stated that after independence in 1947, the immediate issue faced in Education sector was of access; to make education available to youngsters who had the aptitude to study but were denied the opportunity. He asserted that 70 years later, the issue to be addressed in education sector is that of “quality” which is being taken care of by universities such as Amity. He expressed that the present generation of youngsters concentrate on just two words -Jobs and Placements. Unfortunately, the number of Degrees earned by an individual are linked with his eligibility to get a job, resulting in chaos and large number of unemployed youth in the country. He called upon the students to not to get carried away by Degrees and set aside misplaced priorities since we all are part of evolving society.

Pointing out to yet another alarming trend which needs immediate attention, he shared that most of the Engineering toppers from premier Institutes of India are joining Civil Services and the unspoken truth is they don’t have their hearts into the profession but those are a section of students who are habitual crackers, inherently hard working and aiming for speedy financial security and settling down fast. Expressing his concern, the Hon’ble Minister stated that all those Engineering toppers do great injustice to their Institutions, the resources spent on them by their Institutions and to their own selves. He opined that all such candidates could have become Nobel Laureates by retaining their distinct identity and not giving in to instant gratifications.

Motivating the students, he stressed that they are in the best of the times; India is already a Frontline Nation in many areas including Space and they are all going to witness the formation of New India. He called upon them to make good use of luck and advantage that they have by their side.

Accepting the Honorary Doctorate Degree and expressing his sincere gratitude to Amity University for bestowing the same upon him, Nobel Laureate Dr. Takaaki Kajita congratulated Amity for being one of the rapidly expanding Education Group of India. He expressed his delight interacting with Amity students and faculty members during the special lecture delivered by him in the area of his research work- Neutrino Oscillation. He shared that he is working in the area of cosmic interactions and the honour bestowed upon him will further strengthen research and technology related initiatives between Japan and India and exchange of students between both the countries especially between Amity University and University of Tokyo.
