Amity awards Degrees/Diplomas to 3,332 Graduands enrolled under Science, Engineering and Technology Domains during the last day of “Convocation 2017”

The last and final day of “13th Convocation 2017” at Amity University, Noida witnessed the award of 3,332 UG and PG Degrees, Diplomas and 40 PhDs to successfully qualified Graduands of various Science, Engineering and Technology Domains.
Graduands from over 31 Institutions including Amity Institute of Engineering and Technology, Amity Institute of Information Technology, Amity Institute of Nanotechnology, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity Institute of Virology and Immunology and other Institutes came from different parts of the country received their much awaited Degrees and Diplomas.
Dr. Atul Chauhan-Chancellor, Amity University declared the Convocation 2017 open.
Mr. Amitabh Kant- CEO Niti Aayog, Shri Dinesh K. Sarraf- Chairman,Oil & Gas Regularity Authority, Prof. M.K. Bhan- Former Secretary, Dept. of Biotech, Govt. of India and Mr. Tushar Mehta-Additional Solicitor General,Supreme Court were awarded Honorary Doctorate Degrees by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan-Founder President, Amity Group and Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University.
Prof. Anupam Varma- INSA Emeritus Scientist, Advance Centre for Plant Virology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute was awarded Honorary Professorship at Amity Institute of Virology and Immunology.
Accepting the Honorary Doctorate Degree, Mr. Amitabh Kant-CEO Niti Aayog called Dr. Ashok K Chauhan a great Nation builder who is running India’s finest and great University and stressed that Indian education industry needs committed, devoted and industrious entrepreneurs like him. Tracing the growth and development of the country, he stated “ India is growing at around 7.5% per annum; it is an oasisof growth in the midst of the very barren economic landscape across the world but our challenge is to grow at even higher rates of 9- 10% per annum. We are passing through a window of demographic transition, which rarely happens in history. 72% of Indian population is below the age of 32 and the population ofIndia will keep getting younger and younger till 2040 while the population across America and Europe will keep getting older and older.. We need a society which will constantly innovate, which will continuously disrupt.” Sharing his thoughts further, he remarked, “India is the only country in the world with billion bio-metric, with billion mobiles and with billion bank accounts andtherefore, in future, India will be the only country which will make lot of disruptions. It will make Credit Cards, Debit Cards and ATMs technologically redundant in next 3-4 years and we all will be using mobiles for doing many transactions.” He expressed that Universities like Amity with their Incubation facilities and promotion of entrepreneurship amongst students, will become catalyst for creating jobs since all job seekers would become job creators,leading to India becoming a Nation of young entrepreneurs, who will drive India’s growth. He called upon the graduands to retain their traditional heritage and values of their families and old culture since without parents and without family values, the children don’t have future. He expressed his conviction that the graduands of Amity would become nation builders of tomorrow.
Congratulating the graduands, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group stated that Amity graduands are unique since they have been nurtured with Behavioral Science, values, ethics and communications kills which make them distinguished achievers and real might and force for the nation.Dr. Chauhan shared with them the mantra of success which he lucidly explained through the acronym BHAAG where B stands for Behavioral Science, H stands for Hardwork with Strategy, A for Attitude, another A for Ambition and G for God. He called upon the graduands to learn the mantra of BHAAG by heart and implement in their lives through which they will be able to convert all the adversities into opportunities.
Shri Dinesh K. Sarraf- Chairman, Oil & Gas Regularity Authority, while addressing the graduands and talking about Energy Sector, stated that energy is required day in and day out for every activity and India is an energy deficient country and most of energy requirements in oil and gas are imported. He outlined various new technologies emerging in India such as solar energy, autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles and called upon the graduands to work on the new technologies and take them forward. He motivated them to don’t run after jobs but to create jobs so that the country can prosper and progress.
Accepting the Honorary Doctorate Degree and addressing the graduands, Mr. Tushar Mehta-Additional Solicitor General, Supreme Court said that their real examinations will start henceforth in their lives which will be taken by society, world and those examinations will be in the form of challenges which life will throw at them, every year, every month, every day and every hour. They will be continuously examined as to how they perform. He stressed that later on in their lives, they would realize that education coupled with values inculcated by their families and Amity, will come to their rescue. Motivating the graduands, he stated that they are the next generation of citizens who will decide as to who will form the government, run the nation and decide the future course of action of society. He called them an essential pillar of society building and advised them to lead from the front, come outwith new ideas and have courage and inclination and ability to implement those ideas.
Delivering the acceptance speech, Prof. M.K. Bhan- FormerSecretary, Dept. of Biotech, Govt. of India said , “Universities should not only teach but should educate people how to be effective in life and Amity mixes education with experience in an interesting way. As the students will grow over the years, these exposures will back to them and they would be very happy.” Sharing his views on the recent advances in the field of Medicine,he stated that Medicine and Public health has been, now, transformed by the new revolution in Biology, Material Science, Synthetic Biology, Bio-Informatics and expressed his conviction that within 20 years of time, 5 ml of blood sample will be used to detect cancer in any person, without even doing any X-Ray. The challenge for India, he remarked is that if it is not done in India then it will not be affordable, therefore, it will become a dream of well-to-do-Indians but not all Indians. He urged the graduands to do whatever they want to do in their lives, at the same time, ensure that they contribute to the well- being of every Indian- young, old, poor, rich, of any caste or religion. Human beings are the most beautiful creation of the nature and nurturing human beings is the greatest service. He called upon the graduands to be responsible, creative, to dream a bit, do a lot and learn the meaning of team spirit and collaboration in building good life for all Indians.
Dr. (Mrs.) B Shukla- Vice Chancellor, Amity University presented a brief report of the achievements, accreditations and accomplishments of the University, R&D breakthroughs, patents filed, Student Exchange Programmes, Study Abroad Programmes, 3 Continent Programmes, India Immersion Program various other initiatives which are aimed at making Amity students globally sought after professionals.
During the day, 10 Best All Rounder Trophies, 67 Gold Medals,64 Silver Medals, 37 Bronze Medals and 43 Baljit Shastri Trophies were awarded to the meritorious graduands.
Six graduands were awarded Corporate Awards- Samreen Siddiqui - B.Tech(Biotechnology) Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Lucknow was conferred with Most Meritorious Biotechnology Student of the Year; Radhika Gupta – B.Tech(Electronics & Telecommunication) Amity Institute of Telecom Engineering& Mgmt was conferred Delta Power Solution Award of Excellence for Standing First in Skill Training & Major Project for Students ofB.Tech (Electronics &Telecommunication) - Academic Year 2016-17; VRITIKA SHARMA- B.Tech (Electronics & Telecommunication) Amity Institute of Telecom Engineering & Mgmt was awarded Bharti Airtel Award of Excellence for Standing First in Telecom Subjects in B.Tech (Electronics&Telecommunication) (Female) - Academic Year 2016-17 and others.
