Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT) organized Annual Seminar on the topic of “Expectation of the Fashion Industry from Young Professionals"

Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT) organized its Annual Seminar on the topic of “Expectation of the Fashion Industry from Young Professionals" wherein a galaxy of National & International industry persons and academicians from reputed Fashion Retail/ Brand Companies, Fashion Institutes, Apparel Export organizations, as well as Fashion Styling, Accessory Designing & Fashion Designing experts visited Amity University and addressed the UG & PG students.

In his opening remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi, Director General, Amity Directorate of Applied Arts, Fine Arts, Performing Arts & Visual Arts outlined the importance of industry linked interactive activities and requested the experts from Fashion Industry to support fashion education by actively participating in Talk-Shows, Conferences, Seminars, Industry visits etc and enlightening the students with their vast experience.

 

The distinguished industry speakers present during the occasion were Mr. Aamer Zakir,Iranian Celebrity Entrepreneur, Columnist, Fashion Stylist, Make-Over & Grooming Expert; Mr. Dhruv Garg,CEO, Stanmax; Mr. Himanshu Badlia, Marketing-North, Max Retail Division;Mr. Parveen Tyagi, GM-Retail &Distribution, Mother Care, DLF Brands Ltd; Mr. Prem Narayan Singh, Wet Processing Manager, Gap Inc; Ms. Vandana Dewan, Accessory Designer and Ms. Yashica Kakkar, Fashion Stylist

 

Mr. Parveen Tyagi, GM-Retail & Distribution, Mother Care, DLF Brands Ltd commenced the Seminar by giving an overview of the Fashion Retail Industry in India. He outlined the specific qualities required by a Fashion Retail professional.

Mr. Dhruv Garg, CEO, Stanmax emphasized the need to be ambitious, dream big and to chase one’s dreams. He narrated the case of Stanmax, his family business, where he is the third generation entrepreneur.

Mr. Prem Narayan Singh, Wet Processing Manager, Gap Inc. mentioned as to how the world has become a small global place, where organizations from different countries interact with each other in a mutually beneficial relationship.

Ms. Vandana Dewan,Accessory Designer underlined the various skills and knowledge levels that should be imbibed by the budding designers of tomorrow in the ever evolving and constantly dynamic competitive environment.

Ms. Yashica Kakkar,Fashion Stylist highlighted the need for creativity in Fashion Styling and how a person can make a mark in this ever evolving field.

Mr. Himanshu Badlia, Marketing-North, Max Retail Division spoke about the developments taking place in India and abroad in the field of Fashion Retail and what the future holds for this industry.

Mr. Aamer Zakir, Iranian Celebrity Entrepreneur, Columnist, Fashion Stylist, Make-Over& Grooming Expert enthralled the audience with anecdotes of his college life and outlined the need to listen carefully, observe minutely and participate creatively in order to succeed in the Fashion Industry.

Last but not the least, Prof John Jicha, Professor, School of Art and Design, Western Carolina University (WCU), USA interacted with the students. Supported by his knowledge and vast experience acquired while travelling to different countries, Mr. Jicha spoke to the students about the need to excel in their chosen fields. He shared with the ASFT students some of the work put up by his students and the audience marvelled at the efforts.   

The students of various UG & PG programmes of ASFT attended the seminar, interacted enthusiastically with the industry speakers and gained tremendously from this student-industry interface.
