A Book titled “Nanoscience and Plant – Soil Systems” released at Amity

Amity, known as a Cradle of Research and Innovations, witnessed the release of the book titled Nanoscience and Plant – Soil Systems” by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, AmityMr. Radu Carciumaru, Representative, Heidelberg Centre South Asia, German House, New Delhi and Mr. Suboor Bakht, Deputy Director, Heidelberg Centre South Asia, German House, New Delhi at University Campus, Noida.

The Book has been co-edited by Dr. Ajit Varma, Distinguished Scientist &Professor of Eminence, Amity Institute of Microbial Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh along with Mr. Mansour Ghorbanpour (Iran) and Ms. Manika Khanuja (Jamia Islamia University, New Delhi). The salient feature of the Book is an enthusiastic celebration of a new paradigm Nanoscience in Agricultural Research.

Addressing the gathering and apprising them with the book, Dr. Ajit Varma stated that the book has three parts and 21 chapters which highlight how Nano-Science can be used to increase the productivity of the soil. He shared that the book provides in-depth reviews of the effects of nano particles on the soil environment, their interactions with plants and also their potential applications as nano fertilizers and pesticides. It offers insights into the current trends and future prospects of Nanotechnology, including the benefits and risks and the impact on agriculture and soil ecosystems. He emphasized that Individual chapters in the book explore topics such as Nanoparticle Biosynthesis, Engineered Nanomaterials, the use of Nanoclays for remediation of polluted sites, Nanomaterials in water desalination, their effect on seed germination, plant growth, and nutrient transformations in soil, as well as the use of earthworms as bio-remediating agents for nanoparticles. He averred that the book is a valuable resource for researchers in academia and industry working in the field of Agriculture, Crop Protection, Plant Sciences, Applied Microbiology, Soil Biology and Environmental Sciences.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group shared that the Scientists and Researchers at Amity have been actively engaged in curiosity driven, fundamental research which ultimately benefits the humans. He shared that research leads to knowledge generation and it is very important for Universities to become the Institutions of knowledge creators rather than just knowledge disseminators. He shared that Amity has filed more than 850patents in last few years and the some of the breakthrough technologies developed have been successfully transferred to Industry for the welfare of humanity.

Sharing his views during the occasion, Dr. W Selvamurthy- President, Amity Science Technology Innovation Foundation congratulated the authors for the release of such a historic book. He stressed that Food Security is a major concern in India at present time and pointed out that Nanotechnology can be used to increase the productivity of the soil which will ensure food security for growing population.
