H.E. Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh, Governor of Sikkim interacts with the students of Amity University
It was a memorable day for the students and faculty members of Amity University when the Governor of Sikkim, H.E. Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh visited Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida and shared with them his personal experiences and learning of life.
H.E. Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh was welcomed by Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group, Mr. Ajit Chauhan, Vice Chairman of Amity University Online & Amity School of Distance Learning, Maj. Gen. K Jai Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University and Lt. Gen. PD Bhargava, Dy. Vice Chancellor, Amity University.
Sharing his thoughts during the occasion, H.E. Shri. Balmiki Prasad Singh, Governor of Sikkim emphasized on the rich cultural heritage and academic excellence of India. Quoting Great Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore, the founder of “Shanti Niketan”, H. E remarked, “Guru Rabindra Nath loved India not only because he was born in India but because the sons and daughters of India have preserved the wisdom of their ancestors. This is, in fact, the secret of India. At the same time, I believe that a country cannot flourish if the wrong traditions are not challenged .I really look forward to the students of Amity to preserve that wisdom and even add to that through innovation.”
Further quoting the examples of Mahatma Gandhi and Mr. Steve Jobs- the founder of Apple, H.E shared the secrets of success with the students and called upon them to work hard, think “out of the box”, be innovative and decisive about their future goals, practice “simple living and high thinking” and not to be deterred by economic and physical hardships which are unavoidable to achieve any objective.
Responding to a query on “rising insurgency in Assam”, H.E. Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh said that Assam has always been known for Sarees, Tea, simplicity and civilized behavior of people and its only for the past few decades that the problem of insurgency has gripped Assam has been known for, which may be attributed to “Demographic changes and a fear that of the transfer of power from native community to migrants.” Even, Constituent Assembly is not able to find answers to the problem of insurgency in Assam. “Politics has become very narrow and people, in general, have lost faith not only in politicians but also in Bureaucracy. In such a scenario, the new generation has to rebuild Assam.
The students of Amity posed numerous questions to the great leader and prolific speaker ranging from his success mantras, the challenges he faced during his career etc., which were very eloquently answered by H. E.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group remarked that at Amity, every possible effort is made to ensure maximum interaction of students with eminent and great personalities so that the students can emulate the success stories of great men. Dr. Chauhan assured H. E that his words of wisdom would go a long way in shaping the lives of budding professionals of Amity.
The interaction was followed by a Campus round and was shown Amity Innovation Incubator, Amity Centre of e Learning and state of the art laboratories of Nanotechnology, Microbial Technology andAdvance Research & Studies.
