Amity Institute of Pharmacy organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Preclinical Models in Oncology Research” by Dr. Manu Jaggi, Vice President of Dabur Research Foundation alongwith Dr. Anu Singh Taneja, Director, Dabur Research Foundation on August 27, 2012 at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
Oncology Research Features Preclinical and Clinical Cancer Therapeutics which demonstrates research of the highest quality that contributes to an understanding of cancer in areas of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, biology, endocrinology, and immunology as well as studies mechanism of action of carcinogens and therapeutic agents, reports dealing with cancer prevention and epidemiology, and clinical trials delineating effective new therapeutic regimens.
Dr. Mannu Jaggi, Vice President of Dabur Research Centre delivered an acknowledging lecture on Oncology Research wherein he facilitated students with his knowledge and more than 20 years of experience in the field of new drug discovery and advanced preclinical drug development. Through his presentation he gave tips to be a successful researcher and said that both practical and theoretical knowledge is important in this field. “Amity has got a very good tissue culture laboratory, students should take its advantage and practice the tissue culture research” he exclaimed. He also expressed his interest to get affiliation of Amity University for Phd programs at Dabur Research foundation. He also ensured to provide practical training to the students of Amity Institute of Pharmacy at Dabur Research Foundation and subsequently to absorb some of the passed out students. Various Tips given by Dr. Mannu Jaggi to be a good research of Oncology:-
• Start screening the molecules for different type of Cancer
• Practice tissue culture research at Laboratories
• Gain practical point of view through better understanding of tissue culture, handling of animals, building reading skils and an enhanced knowledge of latest technology in pharmacology
• Sustain theoretical knowledge by incorporating a reading habit about discovery and regulatory processes
