The Global Times, youth newspaper of Amity, celebrates its Annual Award Function

The Global Times, a youth newspaper and the visionary initiative of Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools, celebrated its Annual Awards function 2012 to felicitate the forthcoming Journalists from Amity International Schools and Amity School of Communications at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.

The eminent members of the highly competitive Inter Amity Making-A-Newspaper contest 2011-12 included Neelabh Banerjee, Editor National Arts and Illustrations, The Times of India, Ms. Malini Goyal, Senior Editor, The Economic Times and Kriti Monga, Director, Turmeric Design.

Ms. Suhasini Haidar, Prime Time Anchor and Dy Foreign Editor, CNN-IBN and K G Suresh, Director and Chief Editor, Global Foundation for Civilizational Harmony, an initiative of Zee TV and a partner of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations were the Chief Guests for the Award ceremony.

Sharing the success-mantra of how to become a successful Journalist Ms. Suhasini Haider said, “be prepared for slogging, read as much as you can and become friendly to new and upgraded technology and I can see numerous forthcoming journalists from Amity International Schools and Amity School of Communications”.

The participants were felicitated with trophies and certificates in 11 categories including Best Photography, Best Illustration, Outstanding Story among others. The coveted Best Newspaper trophy was lifted by the enthusiastic branch of Amity International School, Gurgaon-43 along with AIS, Vasundhara-6 and AIS, Noida as first and second runners up respectively.

The occasion was marked by tiny cheer leaders, a dance performance elucidating the cultures of different Countries exploring Global Times travel column, an impressive Ramp walk by the school teachers and a movie made by the students showcasing their talent as a Reporter, Anchor, Cameraperson and Editor.

The occasion was graced by Mrs Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology, Mrs Mohina Dar, Sr. Advisor, Amity International Schools, Mr B N Bajpai, Advisor R&D, Amity Group of Schools and principals of all Amity International Schools.
