Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences organised a lecture on “Meditation and Quality of Life: An Empirical Study” by Dr. Anuradha Palta on 25 May, 2012 from 3:00 pm-4:00 pm during the Faculty Development Lecture Series-02 as a part of AIPS Faculty Development Programme.

Dr. D.S. Rathore, Chair Professor, Wisdom for Happy Life, Faculty members from AIPS, AIBHAS, ALS, ASH, official from QAE attended the Lecture. The lecture started with chanting of ‘Om’ by Ms. Punneta Chauhan, Faculty, AIBHAS. She further invited Dr. Palta who enlightened the audiences with the nuances associated and Meditation as a predictor to a Positive lifestyle. She shared with the audience the details of her PhD work, and how Meditation can be utilized as a scientific tool to enhance Quality of Life of individuals. She shared various innovative techniques and methods that can be used to study or indicate one’s Vibrational Health. She acquainted the audiences with two types of Meditation (Mindfulness and Concentrative meditation) and their importance for an individual’s holistic well being.

Prof (Dr) Abha Singh also enlightened the audiences by that sharing that “Meditation is an Attitude”, it is not just something to be undertaken but to be imbibed as a part of everyday life. It is an expression of your wisdom. Dr. Rathore further accentuated the lecture with his thoughts that Meditation is actually doing nothing – being thoughtless. He also felt happy that an initiative of this sort has been undertaken that further paves way to enriching research endeavors of an Institute. Dr. Palta ended the session with taking the audience through an experiential meditative session. The session was well accepted and appreciated by the audience.
