Amity International School, Noida lifts the title of “Youth Envoys 2011-12”
To build a healthy democratic society, it is important to build healthy, competent and engaged citizens. With this objective, The Global Times, Amity’s Youth Newspaper, By the children, For the Children and Of the children has been successfully organizing “Youth Power” for past three years to raise awareness about several social issues.
The Youth Power Programme 2011-12 focused on mentoring ethically inspired leaders of tomorrow through creative communication. A group of four students selected through interview from each of the eight Amity International School located across Delhi and NCR creatd awareness on different social issues of their choice such as Save the Tiger, Stop Cyber Crime, Segregation of waste, Human trafficking to Empowerment of the girl child, Upliftment of the unorganised sector, Nurturing the talent of the underprivileged and Education for all.
The year long program culminated with a grand finale at Amity University Campus, Sector-125, Noida with Amity International School, Noida bagging the coveted title of “Youth Envoys 2011-12” defeating seven other teams.
The winning team comprising team leader Bhuvan Ravindran, Vishaal Rathee, Tanmay Jain and Gautami Raju swept the jury members and Chief Guest Gerard Van Der Weijden- Director, STEPP Educational Communication and Consultant World Association of Newspaper off their feet with their presentation skils and effective communication model. The winning team championed for the cause of tiger conservation. The team also clinched the award for best ‘Creative Communication’ for spreading the message impact fully. The winning team was awarded a three day all paid ecological trip.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson Amity International Schools said, “I feel proud to see my Amitians so passionately working for the betterment of the society at such a young age. Their motivation gives me hope that the future is bright.” Impressed by the effort of the mentor teachers, she announced an impromptu cash award for the teachers for nurturing the leadership qualities in them. Sudhi Bhatia, teacher of AIS Vas 6 was awarded the best Mentor teacher Award.
Amity International School (AIS), Saket and Amity International School, Pushp Vihar were announced the first and second runners up respectively. AIS Pushp Vihar bagged the prize for Best Research Strategy, AIS Gurgaon 46 won the award for Best Awareness campaign, AIS Saket took away the award for Best Fund Generation Model, and AIS Vasundhara 6 seized the award for Best Awareness Movie.
The event was graced by eminent jury comprising Mr. Nikhil Naaz, Cricket Editor, NDTV, Mr. Rati Misra, Consultant Resource Mobilization C 365X 6 Network program, Ms. Seema Gupta, Consultant Smartmatic, Mrs. Pooja Chauhan, Vice President, Amity Humanity Foundation, Ms. Divya Chauhan-Chairperson Amity School of Fashion Technology and Amity School of Fine Arts and Srimati Leelawati Shastriji fondly referred to as Ammaji and principals of all Amity Schools’ branches.
During the last three years “The Youth Power” while raising awareness over several social issues, has reached out to the students across India, training and developing over 50 ethical leaders of tomorrow while sensitizing over 30,000 students through the peer leaders.
