Amity Institute of Telecom Technology & Management organises Anti Tobacco Campaign

As a part of the Human Value Quarter 2010, the 2nd year students of B.Tech (E & T), AITTM, organised an Anti Tobacco Campaign on March 14 to generate awareness about the ill effects of tobacco consumption.

The objective of the campaign was to educate the young and the old on the ill effects of tobacco.

The anti tobacco campaign consisted of a team of students that distributed pamphlets inside as well as outside campus. Early morning, the faculty and students were welcomed by the team at every gate with posters and pamphlets. The team visited a number of blocks on campus where they advised about the issue to students of various departments and posted pamphlets on the notice boards of each building.

Quitting tobacco is not easy as tobacco dependence is a cluster of behavioural, cognitive and physiological phenomena. Very few tobacco users can successfully quit the habit in their first attempt. But the evidence is strong that it can be done, and our approach to the youth, addressing them about the ill effects of tobacco use and most importantly changing their perception about smoking will surely make this goal achievable.
