Mr. Vivian Fernandes, Editor, Special Features, CNBC TV18 delivers a lecture on “FDI in Retail” during AIC lecture series at Amity University
Mr. Vivian Fernandes, Editor, Special Features, CNBC TV18 delivered a lecture on “FDI in Retail” during AIC lecture series at Amity University. This was the 144th lecture under the Amity International Centre (AIC) Lecture Series.
In his address, Mr. Vivian Fernandes said that FDI in retail will give more choices to consumers. Mr. Fernandes opined that Green Revolution was government initiative and now it is time for second green revolution which can happen when organsied retailers joins hand with farmers. Mr. Fernandes said that organised retail will bring down the prices by eliminating the middle man. While giving the example of Delhi vegetble mandi, he said that the onions which are sold to Mandis at Rs 5 per kg is in turn sold to consumers at Rs 20 per kg due to the high commission charged by middle man which are commonly known as arhatias.
Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group said that the lecture presented by Mr. Vivian Fernandes is very relevant in present scenario. Dr. Chauhan, opined that in the present scenario if the Indian industrial houses come forward in retail sector, it will be more benificial for the Indian economy.
