Amity Institute of Physiotherapy celebrates " World Physiotherapy Day"
"Every year on 8th September, physiotherapists around the world use World Physiotherapy Day to draw attention to the contribution the profession can make to the health of individuals and nations. It''s an opportunity to say what we do, how we do it, why we do it, and why physiotherapists are the movement, physical activity, and exercise experts" says Dr Marilyn Moffat, President of WCPT.
Like every year, Amity Institute of Physiotherapy celebrated the “World Physiotherapy Day” at Amity Campus, Sector - 44, Noida to raise awareness about the crucial contribution Physiotherapy profession makes to keep people well, mobile and independent.. The theme of this year’s World Physiotherapy Day was "Active Aging”
Maj. Gen. (Dr.)Surinder Kumar-Chairman, Amity School of Distance Learning (ASODL) and the Chief Guest of the occasion delivered the key note address
Dr Dhurjati Majumdar- Additional Director, The Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences (DIPAS) delivered an interesting lecture on
“ Gait Analysis”, which was followed by a lecture on
“Partial Body Weight Support Treadmill Training” by Dr Ekta J. Daftari- Neuro-Rehab Therapist, NIOH, Auckland University of Technology.
Dr. Ashu Gupta (PT)- HOD, Physiotherapy, Sports Injury Centre, Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi, Dr. Deepak Kumar (PT), Consultant Physiotherapist and Head, Helpage India, Delhi &NCR, Dr. Jasmine, HOD Physiotherapy, Gangaram Hospital, Dr. Sadhana Meen (PT), Safdarjung Hospital and Dr. Harmeet Kaur Bawa (PT), Safdarjung Hospital shared their valuable views during a Panel Discussion on “Active Aging”
During the second session, there were debates organized for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Institute. The students were adjudged by Dr. Jasmine- HOD Physiotherapy Department, Gangaram Hospital, Dr. Aparna Sarkar- Asst. Prof., Amity Institute of Physiotherapy (AIPT) and Dr. Pooja Sharma, Sr. Lecturer, AIPT
The undergraduate students presented their views for and against the topic “Role of a dress code in instilling Professionalism in Physiotherapy”. Aman from Bachelors of Physiotherapy (IIIrd Year) and Neelima from Bachelors of Physiotherapy (IInd Year) lifted the first and second prize respectively.
Post graduate students of the Institute presented their views for and against the topic “Physiotherapy and money - the ethical transformation of physical therapy practice”. Rubina from Masters of Physiotherapy (I Year) won the first prize.
