Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Foreign Expert - Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics delivers lecture on "Reasons behind China’s Rapid Economic Growth" during AIC lecture series at Amity University
Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Foreign Expert - International Initiatives, Beijing Institute of Technology Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics delivered lecture on "Reasons behind China’s Rapid Economic Growth" during AIC lecture series at Amity University. This was the 142nd lecture under the Amity International Centre (AIC) Lecture Series.
In his address, Prof. Rajesh Kumar said that China has undergone many changes since becoming a communist nation in 1949. Briefing about the history of China, Prof. Kumar said that on October 01, 1949, Mao Zedong announced formation of Peoples Republic of China. His first concern was rebuilding a country that had been torn apart by years of civil war. In mid 60s, Mao initiated new movement called Cultural Revolution, sought to ride China of old ways, creating society where peasants, physical labour were the ideal. After the death of Mao in 1976, Deng Xiaoping became the new leader. He initiated market reforms which decentralised economic planning down to the local level.
China economy has grown rapidly as market reforms have continued. Today China economy is the second largest in the world, behind United States of America. China has share of 11% of world GDP i.e. $7.8 trillion and $6,000 per capita GDP. In comparision India has 5% share of World GDP ie $ 3.2 trillion and $ 2,800 per capita GDP.
Professor Rajesh Kumar has been Foreign Expert & Visiting Professor- International Cooperation & University Advancements for Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics & Beijing Institute of Technology. Prof Rajesh Kumar is also Director of Organizing Team of Shanghai World Expo 2010, Xian International Horticulture expo 2011 and many International Events in China appointed by the Government to promote the culture and friendship between China and the world. Prof Kumar is an eminent International personalities, Management Consultant and advisor to the Government of China since one decade.
