Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences organizes three Day Workshop on Rorschach Inkblot Test
A three day Workshop on Rorschach Inkblot Test was held at Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences, Noida from 17th -19th October,2011. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Dwarka Prasad.
Rorschach Inkblot Test is a Psychological Personality diagnostic tool that was introduced by Hermann Rorschach. It is a test in which subjects perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms, or both. The test includes ten cards that have different patterns of inkblots in different categories. Each card has a specific meaning and significance. After the test subject has seen and responded to all of the inkblots (free association phase), the tester then presents them again one at a time in a set sequence for the subject to study: the subject is asked to note where he sees what he originally saw and what makes it look like that (inquiry phase). The subject is usually asked to hold the cards and may rotate them. All the responses are noted down by the tester, verbatim or as accurately as possible. The general goal of the test is to provide data about cognition and personality variables such as motivations, response tendencies, cognitive operations, affectivity, and personal/interpersonal perceptions.
Dr. Dwarka Prasad during the workshop introduced the students to the complexities of the test and helped them unravel the mysteries of the mind using that test. He taught the students about the different scoring systems that are used to score the test. Two of the most widely used are that of Exner and Beck. The students administered the test on their partners in the workshop and further he helped them to score and interpret it. Students eventually made a summary of all the ten cards. He made sure that all the participants learn every detail about the Location, Content and Determinants right and answered all the questions. The most important thing that the participants learnt was the role that the unconscious plays in the answers that one gives on this test. No matter how guarded one might be his unconscious ends up as an answer on the test.
Prof. (Dr.) Abha Singh thanked Dr. Dwarka Prashad for providing students with practical information regarding this scientific tool and for also helping the students know more about the depths of personality by understanding & unraveling the unconscious mind. The students were given Certificate of Participation at the end of the workshop.
