“13th Sangathan-a month long mega sports event” commences to celebrate the birthday of Founder President, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan
To celebrate the birthday of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group and salute his sterling spirit and unflagging passion to bring about an education revolution in the country , Amity University started its 13th Annual month long, mega sports Meet “ Sangathan 2011” at Amity University Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
This year, over 20, 000 students of higher education institutions from over 30 Amity campuses located across India and abroad will zealously participate in various sports events including Hockey, Cricket, football, Tennis, Swimming, Squash among others and prove their mettle by competing with their counterparts. This year the new entrants in “ Sangathan” are Amity University- Mauritius, Amity University- Dubai and Amity University-Madhya Pradesh.
The event started with the “Sangathan Torch” which was carried to various institutions of from Amity Campus, Sector-125 to Sector-44 by the students of various institutions. After travelling through all the Amity campuses located across India, the glorious torch will reach Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida on November 2, 2011 marking the culmination of Founders Day.
Declaring the begining of meet with the flag hoisting, Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University said that Sangathan has brought together talented students who have been chosen to lead and this leadership trait will make a difference in their lives and help them to become corporate leaders. The event will foster teamwork, camaraderie, hard work, dedication in the students which are the ruling mantras of corporate.
The sight of ceremonial release of pigeons and balloons by Mr. Atul Chauhan and Mr. Ajit Chauhan- Trustee, BREF was a treat to the eyes of thousands of beholders, who were captivated by the magnificence of the occasion.
Maj Gen K Jai Singh- Vice Chancellor, Amity University motivated all the teams and players to play with complete dedication, without thinking about winning or loosing. Citing this event as the most prestigious event of Amity calendar which brings together thousands of students and encourages them to play, Gen Singh wholeheartedly congratulated the organizers and wished Sangathan 2011 a great success.
Dr. Alka Munjal- Chairperson, Organizing Committee, “Sangathan 2011” and Director, Amity School of Business extended her warm welcome to the teams of various Amity Campuses, heads of institutions and Senior members of RBEF and AKC Group. Talking about the enormity of “Sangathan”, she remarked that what started as a small event has grown and become a Mini Olympics. The event is closest to the heart of every Amitian as it is a celebrated to commemorate the birthday of our beloved Founder President. At Amity, it is believed that sports not only foster team spirit, nimble mindedness, competitive spirit, and agility but also leads to healthy body and mind. She expressed , “I hope may the best team win and above that we see a true amalgamation of sportsmanship and team spirit."
The Sports captains from all teams took oath to play all the events with honesty, dedication, camaraderie and truthfulness.
The oath ceremony was followed by a multi-hued fusion display by the talented students of Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The onlookers applauded the agility and flawless performance by the students.
The inauguration culminated with a football match (men) between the teams of Amity Business School (ABS) and Amity International Business School (AIBS). The team from ABS was able to overpower AIBS and defeated them by 3-1.
The vast gathering present during the inauguration reflected their solidarity and admiration towards the organization and its philanthropist Founder, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan.
The month long mega Sports Meet will culminate on November 2 with the felicitation of the winners of various sports events by Founder President, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan amidst the colorful cultural programmes by the students from various campuses of Amity.
