Convocation of Axis Bank Young Bankers’ Programme (ABYB) of Amity Global Business School (AGBS) of the Batches 2015-16 & 2016-17 was held today at University Campus, Sector-125, Noida wherein over 169 successfully qualified graduands selected from pan India were awarded 'Post-Graduate Diploma in Banking Services'

Axis Bank Young Bankers (ABYB) Programme is an endeavour by Axis Bank to nurture industry leaders of the future by imparting domain expertise and skill set in the field of Banking. ABYB is a one year, full time residential programme wherein the candidates are selected by Axis Bank through a selection process consisting of an online Aptitude test followed by an interview. The selected applicants are issued Admission & Provisional Letter of Appointment from Axis Bank towards their future employment. On successful completion of the course, the students are absorbed in the role of'Customer Service Officers (CSO)' as Assistant Managers in various Branches of the Bank. Amity Global Business School is the only Institution chosen by Axis Bank in North India to deliver this prestigious programme since 2013.

Mr. Sanjay Silas,President & Head - Branch Banking, Mumbai, Axis Bank, Mr. Nuti Chakravarthy, Executive Vice President, & and Regional Branch Banking Head– North, Axis Bank  and Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh- Group Vice Chancellor,Amity awarded the Diplomas during the Convocation Ceremony.

Addressing the young graduates, Mr. Sanjay Silas- President & Head - Branch Banking, Mumbai stated that in the recent times, almost everything in Banking Sector has moved to digitization and the young Bankers are expected to converse with their customers convincingly and understand their requirements so that they go back as delighted and satisfied customers. He remarked that all the graduands will be seen as “Brand Builders for Bank”whether they will be “Customer Service Officers” or “Relationship Officers”. He stressed that Axis Bank provides ample growth opportunities to all its employees and advised them to focus on their careers and be determined and single minded about giving the best performance. . He called upon them to hold on to the strong values of ethics, team-work, ownership, transparency and customer centricity while dealing with day to day issues in Bank to ensure the smart and smooth growth of their careers.

Sharing his views, Mr. Nuti Chakravarthy, Executive Vice President, & RBBH North, Axis Bank stated that India’s economy will expand and become a $6.6 trillion economy by 2030 and the largest beneficiary would be Banking Sector.He shared that Axis Bank is geared up to become the leaders in the Industry and the young graduands are rightfully placed in the opportune times. He remarked that the current era is experiential and big companies are providing unique experiences to their customers, ensuring customer centricity which is also the prime driver of growth for Axis Bank. He called upon the graduands to maintain their learning agility and keep re-skilling and updating themselves and set a goalpost for themselves for adding value and making difference to their own selves.

Calling Alumni the “Goodwill Ambassadors” and “Brand Builders of Bank”, Mr. A. PSingh- Director, Amity School of Insurance, Banking &Actuarial Science, stated that all of them will be dealing with customers although their designations may differ as per their roles. He stressed that due to intense competition, the transaction centric days of Banks have gone and the Banking systems have become, fluid, dynamic and complex due to demonetization. He stressed that that post demonetization, the Banks are flushed with funds and liquidity and customers require more of advisory services rather than Banking services. He called upon the alumni to succinctly understand their roles in the changed Banking scenario since the roles cannot be taken for granted. He advised them to engage the customers so that customers can trust them, develop liaison with them and seek their advice. He remarked that if they will be able to win over the trust of the customers, they will be able to ensure sustainable future for themselves and their banks.

Reading out the report of the achievements and accomplishments of Amity, Dr. Gurinder Singh- Amity Group Vice Chancellor outlined the stupendous growth of Amity within a short span of time. . Sharing the R&D prowess of Amity,he stated that Scientists and Researchers at Amity have filed more than 986 patents and have produced highest number of research journals which any Indian University has ever produced. He motivated the Alumni to cherish their special day and stressed that the Diploma of ABYL Programme will help them to move ahead in the area of Banking and Finance, He shared with conviction that very soon Amity will become the strongest partner of Axis Bank in delivering ABYL Programme not only in India but across the world.

Ms. Kratika Khanna (Batch 2015-16 ) and Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Chugh (Batch 16-17) received Gold Medals; Mr. Yallasiri PVS Prasad (Batch 2015-16 ) and Ms. Sayantani Chakroborthy  (Batch 16-17) received Silver Medals and Mr. Mayank Tyagi (Batch 2015-16 ) and Mr. Raghu Vamsi Amaraneni (Batch 16-17) received Bronze medals for Academic Excellence.

Ms. Ritika Kaushik (Batch 2015-16) was awarded for “Best Leadership Qualities”; Ms. Swapnil Snehi (Batch 2015-16) was awarded for representing “Institution in outside events”; Mr. Yogender Singh for“Best Personality enhancement”; Ms. R. Kavita for “Best Organizing abilities”

“Late Shri Bachchan Singh Award” instituted by Mr. A. P. Singh was conferred upon Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Chugh (Batch 16-17) and “Late Shri P. S.Bhatnagar and Dr. Mrs. Lajwanti Bhatnagar” instituted by Prof. R. C. Bhatnagar were given to Ms. Kratika Khanna (Cash Award of Rs.3,000/-)and  Mr. Yallasiri PVS Prasad (Cash Award  of  Rs.2,000/-) from Batch of 2015-16.

From 2016-17 batch, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Chugh and Ms. Sayantani Chakroborthy were awarded Cash Prizes of Rs.3,000/- and  Rs.2,000/- respectively under the same Award Category.
