High Level Delegation from American Bar Association visits Amity University

A high leveldelegation from the American Bar Association, led by Ms. Hilarie Bass,President, American Bar Association along with Mr. Gene Vance, Vice Chairof  Section  of  Litigation and Mr. Koji Fukumura , the ChairOf  Section of Litigation visited Amity University Noida campus today.

The aim of thevisit was to provide an opportunity to the students to familiarize them on thelegal provisions & procedure in United States of America and also updatethem regarding their registration for legal practice in USA through AmericanBar Association.

Welcoming thegathering, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity UniversityUttar Pradesh said that Amity believes in providing the best globalexposure to the students and prepare them to face professional challenges atglobal level. She emphasized that Amity aims for students to have highestattainment by inculcating global practices in every programme.

Speaking on theoccasion, Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President, Bar Association of India andPresident, Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) said that it is the firsttime that American Bar Association is visiting any education institute inIndia. Lauding the efforts of Amity Law School, he said Amity Law School isdevoted to prepare a generation of law professionals capable of facing futuredemands confidently and takes pride in maintaining an exceptional learning andresearch environment. He mentioned that Amity believes in providing aninnovative and stimulating exposure to its students so that they achievesuccess in every field and also help towards building the nation.

Addressing thegathering, Ms. Hilarie Bass, President, American Bar Association saidthat American Bar Association (ABA) was established in the year 1878 as avoluntary bar association of lawyers and law students, not specific to anyjurisdiction in the United States. She mentioned that the most importantactivity of ABA is to set academic standards for Law Schools and to formulateModel Ethical Codes related to the legal profession. She highlighted that ABAspreads awareness amongst American public regarding the importance ofindependence of judiciary which helps in decision making

Ms. Basslamented on the large gap towards access to justice in the country by thepeople who need legal help but cannot afford to hire legal counselor, hence ABAstands to ensure that some capital is provided by the government to assist thefunding of legal services for the needy. She stressed that it is important forpeople to believe in access to legal system as it will help in keeping thedemocracy strong. She called upon the budding legal professionals to be themember of American Bar Association as they will get opportunity to network withlegal experts who can guide them to be better lawyers and leaders.

During theoccasion, delegation from American Bar Association presented the “Certificateof Appreciation” to Amity Law School Noida in recognition to their contributionin legal education.

Dr. DilipKumar Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law Schools, Dr. Shefali Raizada, Addl.Director, Amity Law School – I and Prof. (Dr.) Aditya Tomer, Addl. Director,Amity Law School II were also present.
