Amity Institute of Education, AUUP organises Faculty Development Programme “Transforming Education for Transforming Lives”

The five days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) organized by Amity Institute of Education, AUUP on the theme “Transforming Education for Transforming Lives- Adopting a 5 E’s Framework” concluded at University Campus, Sector- 125, Noida

The FDP was a true mélange of knowledge, discussions, ideas, critical thinking and reflection.

Luminaries and the participants from various universities like Deesha Institute of Chemistry, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai ,Mata Sundri College for Women, DU, M.K. M college of Education, Palwal, Satyam College of education, Sai Mohan College of Education,565, Sec. 37, Faridabad, GDC, Udhampur (J&K), GDC, Poonch (J&K), ShardaUniversity, Greater Noida, JIMS, JIE, JEMTFC Grtr. Noida, G.D.C, Nowshera, Jammu Hansraj College, DU, Dept. of Commerce, DU, College of Education for girls,Ghall-kalan, Moga &  Noida International University, Yamuna Expressway, GBN attended the FDP

Dr. Alka Muddgal, HOI, Amity Institute of Education welcomed all the participants.

During the first day, Prof. Pranati Panda, Professor & Head School Standards and Evaluation NUEPA,New Delhi spoke on teacher professionalism and how to become a humane teacher and teacher educator. Prof. Panda discussed about the planning and management of education and the disparity,diversity and quality in teacher education and how all of these are intertwined. She also mentioned that it is important for the teacher educators to possess the required qualifications to transact the new curriculum.

During second day, Prof. Saroj Pandey, Director School of Education Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) New Delhi delineated the path towards self- development through a process of reflection on action and reflection in action.

During third day , Prof. Harjeet Kaur Bhatia- Head,Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi spoke on the ways for the integration and expansion of knowledge in different domain areas through a process of critical inquiry to bring about a holistic vision of education. She also emphasized on the importance of philosophy in education and how wisdom, ideology and critical inquiry are interrelated.

Prof. Bharti Baveja, Professor (Retd.) Central Institute of Education Delhi University, during fourth day,emphasized and extrapolated 5 E’s model, by adding another E called ‘Ethics’ and focused upon character building of the learners and linked pedagogy with the nature of the learner for a joyful learning.

Prof. Ranjana Bhatia Principal, AIE, Saket New Delhi,during fifth day, set forth a lively environment full of ideas and deliberations on the topic and a mind mapping session was held which led to a volley of discussions and was truly enjoyable.

This five day faculty development program was a truly enriching experience for 57participants from across the nation and brought about a change in their perspective about the role of education in the transformation of lives.
