High Level Delegation from Teesside University, UK visits Amity University
To discuss about potential areas of collaboration, a high level delegation from Teesside University, UK visited Amity University, Sector 125, Noida.
The delegation comprised of Prof. Paul Croney, Vice Chancellor & Chief Executive and Dr. David Bell, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) Equality & Diversity Champion (Ethnicity) along with their team comprising of Mr. George Hunt, Director of International Development, Prof. Gok Kandasamy, Principal Lecturer in Sports Therapy, School of Social Sciences and Ms. Padmini Paramesawaran, Regional Director, South Asia, Teesside University Regional Office, India.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. (Prof.) Gurinder Singh, Amity Group Vice Chancellor said that Indian market has become promising for start-ups and it is time that universities focus on the importance of inculcating innovation and entrepreneurship amongst budding professionals. He mentioned that a small innovation can create a world class structure. Outlining the recent developments and achievements of Amity, Dr Singh said that Amity encourages students of every programme towards research and innovation and the University has filed more than 900 patents till now. He further added that Amity has incubated more than 400 companies and has included Internship opportunities under Amity India Immersion Programme.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Paul Croney appreciated the energy and enthusiasm amongst the students of Amity. He said that Amity and Teesside University share similar vision of promoting research and innovation. He pointed out that the aim of Teesside University is not only developing importance of research but also identifying the impact of the study as well. Highlighting the significance of collaborations, Prof. Croney said that collaborations are the synergy of strength which will help in bringing a change in society and world at large.
During the visit, a MoU was signed between Amity University and Teesside University,UK and areas of collaboration were discussed including establishing Centre of Entrepreneurship, Joint inter disciplinary research in Engineering, Computing and Animation, Joint Conferences, Joint programmes in Entrepreneurship and Animation with integrated MBA etc.
