Amity School of Engineering & Technology organized two day International Conference (InCITe 2016) - The Next Generation Information Technology Summit on theme “Internet of Thing(IoT): Connects your World” at Amity University Campus, Noida.

 

The annual Summit intended to bring together professionals, academicians, industry experts, scholars and enthusiasts on a common platform to discuss various emerging trends and innovations, and deliberate on new technological breakthroughs in the area of Information Technology. 

 

Dr. Ralf Toenjes, Chair-Mobile Communications, University of Applied Sciences Osnabruck, Germany; Prof. J K Deka, Professor, IIT Guwahati; Mr. Suraj Saha, Vice President, Reliance Jio; Dr. S N Singh, Professor, IIT Kanpur & IEEE R10(Asia Pacific) Conference and Technical Seminar Chair graced the valediction ceremony.

 

Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Abhay Bansal, Joint Acting Head, Amity School of Engineering & Technology said that Information Technology today has evolved into a rapidly changing and dynamic science. He mentioned that of all the technology trends that are taking place, perhaps the biggest one is the Internet of Things; it is the one that is going to be the most disruptive as well as with abundant opportunities.  He stressed that currently, industry is at a threshold of significantly investing time, energy and efforts to realize the potential of the technology.

 

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ralf Toenjes said that Internet has witnessed a great evolution over the years and there have been three major Internet waves till now namely Industrial Revolution, Internet Revolution and Industrial Internet. He mentioned that by year 2020, there will be 50 billion numbers of Internet wires connected to devices. He stressed that the Internet of Things (IoT) is far bigger than what people know about it. There are lots of opportunities for budding professionals as IoT enables new applications and business. Dr. Toenjes apprised that with opportunities come challenges which need to be addressed such as security, privacy, trust, noise, incomplete data, cloud & distributed computing, mobile computing and applications & use case scenarios. He averred that IoT will make everything from streetlights to seaports “smart” which will revolutionize industries, lives and society.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr J K Deka said that realizing the power of internet, Government of India initiated “Digitize India Platform” as part of which it is encouraging people to digitize their documents. He stressed that digitization of records will make life easier and hassle free for people who will not have to carry their documents everywhere as they can be accessed and retrieved online by authorized government agencies.

 

During the valediction ceremony, Industry Awards were conferred upon Mr. Arbind Balakrishna, Vice President Aeris Communications; Mr. S Madan, Soth Asia Representative, DEL CMC and Dr. Karamvir Singh, Apollo Healthcare for their outstanding contribution in respective fields.

 

Mr. William Isaac from Aligarh Muslim University bagged the first position for Best Research Paper and was awarded with Trophy and Rs. 20,000/- as prize.

 

On the occasion, a MoU was signed between University of Applied Sciences Osnabruck, Germany and Amity University for part semester study programme. 

 

The two day International Conference witnessed deliberation during various technical sessions, invited talks, workshops and paper presentations including Cross Sectoral Internet of Things by Lt Col Alok Shankar Pandey, Joint Advisor, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India; De-Mystifying IoT: Is it about technology or business? By Mr. Vijay Anand, Practice Director IoT, Wipro; Mobile Architecture: Current State and Future Trends by Dr. Sougata Mukherjea, Chief Technologist, GTS Mobility Services, IBM India Research Laboratory, New Delhi, India; Internet of Things - The Path to Success by Dr. Lynn Robert Carter, Partner, Carter Radley Co-Founder & Dean Franklin Jefferson University, USA and Big Data Analytics in Market Research by Mr. Abhivarun Juneja, Director, Digital Marketing and Data Science, American Express amongst others.

 

More than 352 research papers were submitted across the globe including, Japan, South Africa, Germany and India. Some of the affiliations of the contributing authors are University of Cape Town - South Africa, Kyushu Institute of Technology- Japan, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Germany and various reputed Institutions of country- ABV IIITM Gwalior, MNIT Allahabad, NIT Surathkal, NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Jalandhar, NSIT, New Delhi, Aligarh Muslim University, Delhi Technological University, New Delhi, GGSIP University, Gautam Buddha University, JNU, Guwahati University, Assam Engg College, CSIR Labs, DRDO, CDAC, DeitY, Erricson among many others.
