Delegation from Deloitte visits Amity University
Amity University organized a Special Session in collaboration with Deloitte on“Global Best Practices adopted by World Class Universities for Student Engagement, Student Experience & Industry Institute Engagements” at University Campus, Sector-125, Noida
Mr. Scott Friedman, President, National Speakers Association (NSA), Mr.Debashish Banerjee, Director, Analytics, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP,Md. Ali Shariff, Director, Education & Skills, Deloitte Touche TohmatsuIndia LLP shared their expert views during the Session.
Welcoming the distinguished guests, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal-Dean, Faculty of Management Studies & Director, Amity Business School thanked them for talking out time to enlighten the students and faculty members of Amity. He gave a brief introduction of the guests and apprised students with the Deloitte and its contribution to Indian industry in myriad ways.
Outlining the critical elements of world class universities, Mr Scott Friedman,President of the National Speakers Association (NSA) said that Research andI nnovation form the backbone of globally reckoned Universities and they encourage and promote ideation and creation of new knowledge amongst the students. He remarked that world class Universities continuously update their curriculum and follow competency based and outcome based learning felicitated through state of the art infrastructure and latest technology including online platforms. He apprised that in US, the research is funded by Government,Universities and Industry which enhances the quality of their research
Sharing his views, Mr. Debashish Banerjee, Director, Analytics, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP stated that world class Universities offer an amalgamation of programmes which enriches the overall learning experience of the students.Talking about Data, he remarked that with data being rapidly generated everywhere; Data Analytics has become a big concept. Numerous companies are investing their resources to device ways for automatically deciphering the data generated. He averred that automation has already been there in works related to hands and legs and need of the hour is to devise innovative ways to educate the machines so that they can do what human brains are capable of doing.
Addressing the future workforce, Md. Ali Shariff, Director, Education &Skills, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP said that it’s an interesting time in the industry since it is going through a big change. He stressed that 70% of the jobs existing today, will not be there after 10-15 years. He urged the students to prepare themselves for global markets since most of them would have jobs which would involve travelling across the globe. He motivated them to have global outlook, multi- dimensional skills and good communication skills to become globally employable. He shared that education system in UK encourages critical thinking, nobody takes attendance and the onus of creating new knowledge is on the students. The education system in US, he remarked, focuses on book learning and peer to peer learning. He opined that Indian education system should include more practical assignments and foster creative thinking in the students.
