Amity together with National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Government of India starts ‘Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp’

“Promote entrepreneurship amongst students to make them Job Providers” aver experts during the inauguration of three day ‘Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp’ at Amity 

In order to develop entrepreneurial mindset and culture amongst students, Amity Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (ACED) started three day ‘Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp’ in association with Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Ahmadabad and National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board,Department of Science & Technology,Govt.of India at Amity University Campus, Sector-. 125, Noida.

Dr .R.K.Chandra, Sr. Advisor, Mentorship & Support System, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NEISBUD), Mr. Sujit Banerjee,Director and Scientist F, NationalScience & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board(NSTEDB),DST, Mr. Kalish Hariharan Iyer, Joint Director, The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Mr.Thothathri Raman, Chairman,Society forEast Asian Anthropology(SEAA)Trust, New Delhi and Prof.William S Parrott, Peregrine Academic Services,USA inaugurated the Camp.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Neelam Saxena- Head, Amity Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Convener, Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp’ said that India needs a vibrant ecosystem of entrepreneurship wherein innovation and entrepreneurship can jointly contribute towards the prosperity of the country.She opined that the increasing population of the country can become a demographic dividend if the growing population is meaningfully employed. She remarked that entrepreneurship is all about dreaming coupled with hard work,passion, perseverance and ability to take risks and the essence of entrepreneurship lies in creating value for others. She called upon the students to live their dreams and to be a job provider rather than job seeker,in their own interest and in the interest of the country.

Dr.R.K.Chandra, Sr. Advisor, Mentorship & Support System, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NEISBUD), while addressing the gathering said that there are not enough jobs in India and if the talent and knowledge of the youth is not productively engaged, they go waste. In order to ensure the economic revival of India, there is a dire need to re-think and promote entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country. He shared that at present, entrepreneurship ecosystem has undergone sea change in the country. He apprised students that Government has launched various schemes to promote entrepreneurship amongst the youth of the country and women entrepreneurs are even given 30% capital subsidy to increase their numbers in the country.

Mr. Sujit Banerjee, Director and Scientist F, NationalScience & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board(NSTEDB),DST stressed that Innovation is the key to survival for every country and remarked that Innovation is not a rocket science but an effective way to solve a problem which could be personal,industrial or societal. He averred that start- ups thrive on Innovation which aim towards solving the existing issues or satisfy unfulfilled needs. He encouraged students to travel the road of entrepreneurship which, although, is bumpy and full of challenges in the beginning but satisfying in the long run.

While addressing the students, Mr.Kalish Hariharan Iyer, Joint Director, The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) stressed that in India, too much importance is given to winning and not performing as a result of which the youth of the country are skeptic of starting on their own and have risk aversion. Motivating the students, he stressed that if they have a right idea and a persistence to take it forward, there are numerous people out there to mentor them and extend requisite help. He informed students that Government and Private Sector have come together to promote and support the spirit of entrepreneurship in the country.

The inauguration was attended by hundreds of students perusing various programmes in Amity, who raised a plethora of questions to the veterans on various aspects of entrepreneurship.
