Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation, Germany grants equipment worth € 20, 000 for accelerating research initiatives in Amity
A high profile Delegation comprising of Prof Klaus Banert, Senior Professor, T.U. Chemnitz, Germany and Prof. Rekha Ranjan, Head of Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation, India visited Amity University, Sector-125, Noida and handed over the equipment worth 20, 000Euros for accelerating research initiatives in Amity.
The AvH Foundation promotes academic cooperation between excellent Scientists and Scholars from Germany and their counterparts from other countries.
Dr. Deepshikha Pande Katare -Professor,Assistant Director & Head Medical Biotechnology, Amity Institute of Biotechnology welcomed the distinguished members of the Delegation.
Dr. Chanderdeep Tandon- Director, Amity Institute of Biotechnology presented a brief overview of Amity Institute of Biotechnology, the research projects going on in the Institute in different areas, the intellectual capital and accomplishments of students, research scholars and faculty members.
Dr. Monalisa Mukherjee, Director, Amity Institute of Click Chemistry Research and Studies explained the breakthrough research projects going on in the Institute.
The equipment were handed over to Dr. Biswajit Saha, Asst. Professor, Amity Institute of Click Chemistry Research and Studies, Amity University by Prof Klaus Banert and Prof. Rekha Ranjan in the presence of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group and Dr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University.
Dwelling on the equipment and their utility, Dr. Biswajit Saha, Asst. Professor, Amity Institute of Click Chemistry Research and Studies said that he was selected for the most prestigious Alexander von Humboldt fellowship in 2009 and once again as a visiting Scientist in 2015. The fellowship gave him an opportunity to visit prestigious Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany, where he worked in close association with Prof. Banert. He remarked that Foundation awarded him a sum of20, 000 Euros for purchase of high quality equipment for the research and same has been used for the purchase of “HPLC - Agilent Tech”, “-80oC Immersion Cooler and “Rotary evaporator” by which will be used by scientists, research scholars and students from for their research and Innovation
During the visit, Prof Klaus Banert delivered a talk about TU Chemnitz and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and enlightened the Head of Institutions, Faculty members, PhD Scholars and Students of Science& Technology domain.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group thanked Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany for associating with Amity and strengthening the research initiatives. Dr. Chauhan shared that Amity gives great importance to talent and research and announced that soon a website will be launched which will be dedicated to the achievements and accomplishments of faculty members, researchers, scientists and students of Amity. Dr. Chauhan remarked that Indian scientists and researchers are the best in the world and synergy of best brains, as promoted by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, can create wonders in the area of Science and Technology.
Prof.Rekha Rajan, Head, AvH, India briefed students about Alexander von Humboldt Foundation which aims to connect academic excellence worldwide and facilitates knowledge transfer and cooperation at the highest level. Prof. Rajan briefed that AvH strengthens cutting edge research through International linkages and promotes outstanding researchers however, funding solely depends upon the quality of research. She apprised students that the Foundation does not have quotas for countries or disciplines.She stressed that over the last 10 years, the grants given by AvH to Indian Researchers and Scientists have gone down drastically due to not so well thought of project proposals and called upon Amity students to draft their project proposals discreetly before applying to AvH Foundation for grants.
