Students of Amity International Schools showcase their masterpieces during “Art and Sculpture Exhibition”on the theme “Incredible India”
Giving wings to the creativity of budding Artists and Sculptors from Amity International Schools, an “Art and Sculpture Exhibition” on the theme “Incredible India” was organized at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida which showcased the brilliant masterpieces and creative strokes of the School students.
The Art faculty and a group of students from 12 branches of Amity International Schools and Amity Global Schools participated in the 4th Art& Sculpture Camp in their respective schools from December 26, 2016 to January 14, 2017 on the theme ‘Incredible India’.
Each team had 3 students and a teacher in-charge who worked on a masterpiece during the Camp. Motivated by the teacher mentors, the students of Amity Schools showcased their creativity by splashing the canvas with their master strokes and by making innovative sculpture pieces. The selective masterpieces were displayed in University Campus today and were adjudged by famous Artists- Padamshri Prof. Biman Bihari Das- Ex-Principal Govt. College of Art & Craft, Prof.Krishan Ahuja- Vice President, All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, Famous Indian Artist- Prof. Jagadish Dey.
The students, through their artistic expressions in Paintings and Sculptors, brought alive the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland; Festival of Bihu, Kerala- God’s own country and everything it stands for including snakes, elephants, coastal beaches, coconuts; Bihar- its famous personalities and art forms,; West Bengal- Shantiniketan, Kalabhavan, Scroll Painting, Pattachitra, Birbhum Art; Mural depicting cultural and traditional richness of Maharashtra and Gujarat to name a few.
The valediction of the Exhibition was graced by Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools and Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson,Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology along with the renowned Judges of the Exhibition.
Three Teams were awarded under “Best Art work Category”- Team of Ms. Shalini Sharma from Amity School, Sector-46 Gurgaon, Mr. Kishanu Ghosh’s Team from Amity School, Sector-43 and Mr. Sujeet Kumar’s Team from Amity School, Sector-46Gurgaon
Special Mention awards were given to the Teams of Ms. Isha Arora- Amity School, Pushp Vihar, Ms. Anu Gupta- Amity School, Saket, Mr. Ajab Singh- Amity School, Noida and Mr. Sandeep Panwar- Amity School, Sector-1, Vasundhara
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Mohina Dar-Director, Academics, Amity Group of Schools shared that the pioneering endeavor of Art Camp started in 2011 under the able leadership and guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools to inculcate the love of art and artistic expression amongst the students. He remarked that during the Art Camp, students explored, honed and realized their innate,inventive talents, surpassing the boundaries of imagination. She shared that every year the Art Camp has different themes such as “Peace and Harmony”,“Amity and what it stands for” and “Education” which provide meaningful learning experience to the budding artists of Amity International Schools.
Famous Indian Artist- Prof. Jagadish Dey appreciated the works of the students and their team spirit which led to the creation of such beautiful artworks. He applauded the underlying “Guru-Shishya Parampara” of the Camp and motivated the students to pay heed to the advice of their teacher mentor which will take them places in their career.Motivating the students, he stressed that all works were equally good and it was very difficult for the Judges to declare the best. He encouraged the students to keep up the good work without thinking about honors and awards.
Addressing the students with joy and pride, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools stressed that it’s a momentous occasion for the students of Amity Schools to be judged by the world renowned artists and get their feedback and guidance. She applauded the skills, thoughts, feelings and emotions behind the masterpieces and called them “priceless”. She remarked that Amity Schools focus on the overall grooming of the students and therefore, provide them diverse platforms to realize and showcase their talents in front of experts of the field.
Prof.Biman Das, while addressing the young artists, stressed that in the field of Arts, there is no end or limits; an artist’s imagination can travel far and wide to create wonderful expressions of Art. He stressed that Art is spiritual, beautiful and full of emotions and called upon the parents to let their children experience the free flow of creativity in different forms, thereby providing them an opportunity to become masters of the subjects they pursue.
Prof.Krishan Ahuja- Vice President, All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society appreciated teachers for their ideation and guidance which resulted in the creation of heart and soul touching artworks. He remarked that today’s generation is lucky to have the advantage of working with computer technology but at the same time, cautioned them against the over-use of computer technology in Arts. He advised students to use more of Sketch books to give a shape to their thoughts, feelings and imagination and to use Computer as a tool for enhancing their artistic skills.
