15 Inspired Teachers as part of “In Residence” programme by Hon’ble President of India visit Amity University
Under the “In Residence” programme for Inspired Teachers announced by the President of India, the second batch of 15 Inspired Teachers from Central Universities across the country visited Amity University, Sector 125, Noida.
The programme was instituted at the annual Conference of Vice Chancellors of Central Universities on February 5, 2015. Similar programmes exist for writers, artists, grass root innovators and NIT students.
The Inspired Teachers, during their stay at Rashtrapati Bhavan get an opportunity to interact with various Union Ministers and senior Government officials as well as visit educational institutions in Delhi-NCR.
Appreciating the Inspired teacher Program by Hon’ble President of India, Ms. Aditi Singh,Assistant Professor, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi said that the program abet to inspire and encourage the teachers, who play a substantial role in nation building. She further added that it is an over whelming experience for them to be at the Rashtrapati Bhawan as an inclusive part of their learning which instill pride holistically which contributes further to the development. Ms. Aditi expressed gratitude to Amity for presenting an insight about new initiatives adopted in the field of academics, R&D, International linkages etc. She averred that Amity is a renowned educational institution which has marked milestones with well structured system, academic excellence and Research and Innovation.
Welcoming the guests, Maj Gen K Jai Singh, Amity Group Vice Chancellor said that every individual has a great responsibility towards the Nation which is going through a transit phase in education system. He mentioned that there is a need to advance the system equivalent to the global competitive environment. He pointed certain issues which need immediate attention to such as, students’agitation and politicization in Educational Institutes; quality of education which is suffering due to over recreation, lack of autonomy and lack of bond between teachers and students and lastly, lack of good education. He opinedt hat the foundation learning for students is schools which should inculcate values such as culture, ethics, civic sense, etiquette etc. and groom them for higher education.
Presenting a brief on vision and new initiatives of Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Dr.(Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that Amity is a leading education group of India with a vision to be acknowledge superpower by year 2020. She mentioned that Amity believes in grooming leaders who are not only thorough professionals but also good human beings with values. She further briefed about the initiatives undertaken by Amity is last three years, model framework for various programme courses and future objectives.
During the occasion, Dr. W Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation gave an overview on research and innovation programmes at Amity while, Dr. Gurinder Singh, Group Addl Vice Chancellor presented a brief on international Linkages.
