18th Mega Inter-Institutional Sports Meet “Sangathan 2016” concludes with the celebrations of Founders Day at Amity

Amity School of Engineering and Technology wins 18th Mega Inter-Institutional Month long Sports Meet “Sangathan 2016”

1693 students and 77 Faculty and Staff members awarded for exemplary display of sportsmanship in more than 22 Sports events

                                                                                                           

Keeping in view the importance of Sports and the virtues they instill in the players, the Founder’s Day in Amity is celebrated every year in the form of month long Inter-Institutional Mega Sports Meet “Sangathan” wherein thousands of students from all Amity Campuses across India and abroad compete with each other in sports events and vintage games. The meet concludes on the birthday of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan-Founder President, Amity Group with the felicitation of winners.

18th Mega Inter-Institutional Sports Meet “Sangathan 2016”concluded today at Amity University Campus, Sector- 125, Noida with the much awaited celebrations of Founders Day.

The Valediction Ceremony of Sangathan 2016 witnessed the presence of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools; Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh; Dr.Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Gurgaon, Ms. Sapna Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, Amiown Schools, Ms. Pooja Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, AmityHumanity Foundation and Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity School of Fashion Technology and Amity School of Fine Arts along with senior officials of the management of Amity

Presenting a brief overview of “Sangathan 2016”, Prof. (Dr.) Kalpana Sharma- Chairperson, Organizing Committee Sangathan 2016 said that Sangathan 2016 witnessed humungous and exemplary participation by over 15, 000 students from all National and International Campuses of Amity, displaying true sportsmanship. She remarked that Sangathan 2016 provided a platform to students for making new friends and learn virtues such as team spirit, healthy competition etc. She shared that during the month long Meet, there were over 20 Sports events were organized for students and 7 Sports events for faculty and staff with over 952 Matches being played in total

During the occasion, “Happiness Tree” was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan which symbolizes the elements of happiness in an artistic manner. The eminent personalities visiting Amity Campus will put their happiness mantra on the leaves of “Happiness Tree” that will be on display to encourage and motivate Amitians.

Putting the first leaf of happiness mantra on the “Happiness Tree”, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group congratulated Amitians for their heart warming participation during Sangathan. Motivating them further, he remarked that it is important to participate and winning or losing just give a fleeting happiness but the confidence, knowledge and the leadership skills that a person acquires while playing have no parallel. He expressed with conviction that very soon, every State of India will have Amity Campus which will provide students the best education enriched with rich Indian culture and Sanskaars.

The ceremony witnessed the felicitation of over 1693 students and 77 Faculty and Staff members for their exemplary display of sportsmanship and skill in more than 22 Sports events which included Shooting,Basketball, Kabbaddi, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Chess, Swimming, High Jump, Badminton, Volleyball and various other Vintage Games.

Amity School of Engineering and Technology lifted the Winners Trophy of Sangathan 2016 with 10Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals and 13 Bronze Medals; Amity Law School, Noida was declared the First Runners Up with 9Gold Medals, 15 Silver Medals and 07 Bronze Medals. The combined team from Amity Institute of Psychology, Amity Institute of Neuropsychology and Neurosciences, Amity Institute Behavioral and Allied Sciences and Amity Institute of Forensic Sciences was declared Second Runners Up with 12 Gold Medals and 3 Bronze Medals.

Impressive March Past by contingents from Amity International Schools located in Delhi/NCR and different Universities/Campuses of Amity across India and abroad presented a perfect picture of India’s unity in diversity. The Contingent from Amity International School, Noida was declared the Best Marching Contingent in the Juniors Category and in the Seniors Category, Amity Institute of Education,Noida was awarded for their synchronized March Past and confidence they exuded while marching.

The tiny tots of Amiown (Amity’s caring Pre-school) located in Noida, Pushp Vihar and Gurgaon presented a colorful performance displaying physical agility through martial arts, regaling one and all with their moves.Their cheerful faces, boundless energy and bright smiles endeared them to all.

On the eve of Founder’s Day, students from all National and International Campuses presented colorful dance performances of their respective States depicting beautiful culture and traditions followed indifferent States of India.
