Shri. Ram Kripal Yadav urges the budding lawyers to redress the issue of delay in justice for betterment of society during Inauguration of Amity 4th International Moot Court Competition
To familiarize the budding lawyers with the law and practice of the International law, Amity Law School Centre – II started Amity 4th International Moot Court Competition which is based on Sports Law at University Campus, sector 125 Noida.
Moot Courts provide a platform for budding lawyers to imbibe presentation skill,appropriate and logical response to the spontaneous query of Judges and art of advocacy Moot Court is arranged for giving practical training and guidance to the law students about various laws and court practices.
The inaugural ceremony of Moot Court Competition witnessed the presence of eminent personalities including Shri. Ram Kripal Yadav, Union Cabinet Minister,Drinking Water and Sanitation; Shri Ram Sakal Gujar, Minister of State(Independent In-charge) for Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh; Shri. Surender Khanna, Former Indian Cricketer; Mr. Choudhary Munawar Saleem,Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Mr. Salamat Ullah, Director, New India Insurance Company; Maj Gen P D Bhargava; Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Amity University , Uttar Pradesh and Dr. Aditya Tomer,Deputy Director, Amity Law School, Centre-II.
Sharing his views, Shri. Ram Kripal Yadav said that the awareness of law amongst civilians is very low due to which they face various problems. Therefore, there is an urgent need of legal empowerment amongst the general public. He stressed that students are taught various subjects at school level including Languages,Science, Mathematics, History, Social Sciences, moral Sciences etc but knowledge of law should also be included in the curriculum. He averred that there many cases pending in Indian courts as litigations are perennial. He urged the budding lawyers to redress the issue by attempting to provide justice for betterment of society
Addressing the gathering Shri Ram Sakal Gujar said that there are still inhibitions in many parts of society to accept sports as a profession for their children; hence, it is important to increase the public awareness about accepting sports as a career option. He further added that said that there has been growing corruption in sports from match fixing, to sports stars using drugs to on field physical,mental and verbal assaults which has made a necessity for inclusion proper law and order in the profession. Shri Gujar apprised that young professionals have great responsibility on their shoulders to change the legal system and bring forth righteousness amongst the society.
In his speech, Mr. Choudhary Munawar Saleem lauded Amity for its achievements as a research and innovation driven University. He said that Educational institutions play an important role in the career of an individual hence choosing a right educational institution is important as it will work to achieve your aims; both for education and sports career. He highlighted that from a mere source of entertainment and personal recreation,sports as a profession has grown into a highly competitive industry.Consequently, with growing popularity sporting world has been plagued by scandals and controversies over the years. As a result, law has become an integral part of sports. Shri Saleem opined that it is now necessary to check corruption and ensure accountability in conduct and managing sports.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla said that it is very important for budding lawyers to participate in moot court competitions as it is an intellectually rigorous competition which gives a real insight into the significant areas of law, while honing the advocacy skills of students.
34 teams across the globe have participated in the Amity 4th International Moot Court Competition including Faculty of Law, Bangladesh;Jamia Milia Islamia; Symbiosis Law School, Pune; Gujarat NLU, Gandhingar; Alliance University, Karnataka; Bangalaore Institute of Legal Studies; KIIT, Bhubaneshwar; Faculty of Law, Allahabad; NMIMS, Mumbai; IIT Kharakpur and Amity University, Jaipur amongst others.
During the three days Moot Competition, there will be two preliminary rounds wherein top eight teams will qualify for quarter finals. The Quarterfinals and Semi Finals are the knockout rounds evaluated on the basis of oral arguments and the memorial.
The valediction ceremony and prize distribution will be on March 12, 2016.
