Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (AIRS) organized ‘Divyangjan Jagrukta Rally’ a Community Awareness Programme on Disability
Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (AIRS)organized ‘Divyangjan Jagrukta Rally’ a Community Awareness Programme onDisability at Raipur Village, Sector 126, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The main focusof this programme was to sensitize the members of the village on the differentaspects of disability rehabilitation services.
The programmewas divided into two parts. Initially, there were sensitization sessions atGovt. School of Raipur Village where street play was performed by students ofIntegrated B.A./B.Sc./B.Com B.Ed. During the Sessions, the importance of peersupport for the students of disability was explained to the students of theschool.
During the occasion, Block Education Officer (ABSA),Bishrakh Block, Gautam Budhdha Nagar, Mr. Arun Kumar, Government Middle SchoolPrincipal, Ms. Durga Devi, Village Representative Mr. Dharmendra, parents andall students and teachers of Government school were present.
Addressing thegathering, Dr. Jayanti Pujari, Directorand Associate Professor, Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (AIRS) saidthat the Amity Foundation for Developmental Disabilities was establishedby visionary Founder President of AmityUniversity Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan under which AIRS endeavours andcontinuously strive for excellence towards the delivery of services for personswith developmental disabilities.
Block Education Officer (ABSA), Mr. Arun Kumar appreciated the efforts made by Amity UniversityUttar Pradesh and selecting Raipur Village and Government Schools for such animportant aspect. He emphasized that thehonorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is inclined in making IndiaDisabled Friendly through Accessible India Campaign and has also given a newname ‘Divangjan’ which promotes and empowers the Differently Abled Populationof India.
On thisauspicious occasion, a rally was arranged and was flagged off by the BlockEducation Officer and Village Heads. Over120 students and faculty members participated in the rally and raised slogans and distributed pamphlets related toidentification of different disabilities.
