Amity Institute of Social Sciences organizes Conference ‘World History Conference - 2016’
Amity Institute of Social Sciences in association with Akhil Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Yojna organized a Conference ‘World History Conference - 2016’on theme "Historical Monuments: History, Culture, Heritage and Beyond"at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Sector 125, Noida Campus.
The aim of the conference was to facilitate discussions and sharing of knowledge, new ideas,and strategies among Academicians, Researchers and Practitioners.
The inaugural session witnessed the presence of eminent personalities including Prof. Mesbah Kamal, General Secretary, Bangladesh Itihas Sammilani,Dhaka University, Bangladesh; Prof. K.N. Dixit, Director, Indian Archaeological Society; Dr. Sushmita Pandey, Chairperson, National Monument Authority, New Delhi; Prof. (Dr.) S C Mittal, President, Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana; Ms. Jannat E Ferdousi, General Secretary Research and Development Collective Responsibility, Bangaldesh; Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh; Prof. (Dr.) Nirupama Prakash,Director, Amity Institute of Social Sciences along with senior officials of Amity.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mesbah Kamal said that for India, history has been a thriving discipline and had an interdisciplinary approach towards it. He stressed that it is important top reserve monuments since it means preservation of memories which reflects on how cultures assimilated over the years. He mentioned that Taj Mahal is the pride monument of India which is a blend of Indian and Persian tradition that reflects amalgamation of two cultures which created a wonder of the world. He called upon the participants to build a world where people of all cultures,race and religion live together in peace and harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. K N Dixit said that history has been an essential part of our life since birth. People are always curious about their ancestors, their background etc. He emphasized that preservation and restoration of historical monuments are important as it plays a cultural role. He averred that history cultivates pride for culture and heritage which makes us unique in the world.
Sharing her views, Dr. Sushmita Pandey said that historical monuments are the documentaries of Indian Culture and ethical values had been supreme in Indian History. She apprised the participants on the importance of various archaeological monuments including pillars, stupas,engravings, manuscripts, wall paintings etc. Dr. Sushmita pointed that over the years, people have forgotten the value of historical monuments and knowingly o unknowingly tends to harm them. She emphasized that it is the duty of every citizen to protect the monuments.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balvinder Shukla said that now-a-days, people are more focused on emerging areas and forgetting the importance of history. She mentioned that it is important for people to realize that without history the present has no existence. She averred that history reflects the image of a country, society and organization. It shows the movement of a culture from one place to another and how traditions evolved.
During the inauguration,Journal on “Amity Global History Review-2016” and Conference Proceedings were released by the dignitaries.
During the day long conference,various eminent speakers from Industry and Academia delivered keynote Lectures followed by paper presentations by research scholars including Marvels in Architecture -Golden Temple, Amritsar by Dr. Surjit Kaur Jolly, Ex-Principal, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, Delhi University; Ancient Universities of India by D.D.Misra, Ex- Professor, IIT - ISM, Dhanbad, Jharkhand; History of Bharat Mata Temple of Devagiri or Daultabad Fort, Aurangabad- Maharasthra State (MedievalIndia/ 1000 AD-1950) by Dr. Manmohan Tuli, Moga, Punjab and The Iconographical Symbolism of the of Kota Palace by Roopali Yadav, Pearl Academy, Noida amongst others.
