“Amity Human Values Quarter” concludes at Amity University

“Amity Human Values Quarter” observed every year enthusiastically by Amity students,concluded today at University Campus, Sector-125, Noida with Dr. Anupam Sibal-Group Medical Director, Apollo Hospitals, Lt. Gen. K.M. Seth, Former Governor,Chhattisgarh and Tripura, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group,Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools and Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh appreciating the efforts of Amity students for the selfless service they rendered to the people of society.

Amity students, throughout Amity Human Values Quarter (AHVQ), are encouraged to participate in Human Values related activities and promote Social causes such as Women Empowerment, Elderly Care, Environment etc. through Debates,Plays/ Drama, Poster making Competition, Essay Competition, Workshops, Lectures and various Community Outreach Programmes  etc.The endeavor aims at providing holistic grooming to Amity students.

Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh announced today that from next academic year , Community Outreach Projects will be made a mandatory part of all the programmes and the students will earn one credit for the same to enrich their learning experience. The announcement was made during the valediction of “Amity Human Values Quarter” which commemorates the birthday of Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools who is an epitome of human values and sanskaars.

Prof. (Dr.) Nirupama Prakash, Chairperson, AHVQ presented a brief report about the activities conducted by students as part of Human Value Quarter and highlighted that over 3127 students participated in 278 human values outreach activities conducted at Institutionall evel including Donation Drives, Cancer Awareness Camps, Craft Melas, Drills for avoiding Road rage, Panel Discussions and Dress Show for Atulalya Bharat toname a few.

Addressingt he gathering, Lt. Gen. K.M. Seth, Former Governor, Chhattisgarh and Tripura stressed that Amity students, with their values and Sanskaars, will contribute a lot to the nation. He commended Amity for providing various opportunities for holistic grooming of the students.

During the occasion, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and Dr (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan released the Book “Is Your Child Ready to Face the World”written by Dr. Anupam Sibal.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anupam Sibal, referring to the quote of Dr. Chauhan stressed that human values are the base of all other virtues and attributes and a person without human values is incomplete.

Talking about the book, Dr. Anupam Sibal said that being a good parent is a skill that is acquired over time, one that requires constantly adapting to the rapidly changing times. In today’s world, where academics,extra-curricular activities and distractions in the shape of numerous gadgets make heavy demands on children’s time, it is tough to communicate with them.The book, Dr Anupam Sibal stressed that, outlines the approach to effectively getting through to children and mastering the art of parenthood.

Sharing his views on importance of values, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President,Amity Group said that values are the essence of an individual which should be seen as a foundation stone for success in life. He lauded the Amitians for their selfless service to the humanity during Human Values Quarter.

Sharing her views, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan said that she is a mother to all the Amitians and like every mother she wishes to instill good virtues and values in her children. She apprised that her biggest happiness lies in the success and achievements of Amitians who will make India a Superpower in future. Dr.(Mrs.)Chauhan shared that Amity Human Values Quarter was sowed as a seed which has now bloomed like a tree due to the humanitarian work done by the students,Faculty Members and Senior Officials of Amity.

Addressing the students, Dr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan appreciated students for the philanthropic activities they undertook. He stressed that excellence is not an act but a habit and Human Values Quarter helps in imbibing the habit of philanthropy and care and concern for others in the young generation, which will have an indelible and life changing effect on them. He announced that from next year onwards Human Values Quarter will be observed in Amity Campuses as well.

During the occasion, “Dr. (Mrs.) Asha Bhargava Memorial Award”was presented by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan to Preeti Sharma- a student of Amitasha (Project under which underprivileged girls are provided free education, books, meals and uniform) for her exceptionally brilliant performance in all spheres.

Prof. R.R Grover- Advisor, Amity School of Insurance, Banking and Actuarial Sciences, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal- Director, Amity Business School and Prof. Nirupama Prakash, Chairperson AHVQ presented cheques collected out of various philanthropic activities to Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan for “AMITASHA” and“ATULASHA” Projects which aim to provide free education to underprivileged girls and boys.

Nine students from various programmes such as Law, Management,Engineering undertook Community Outreach Projects such as Child Care and Women empowerment, Starting Coaching Centres in Villages, Spreading awareness about the adverse effects of smoking etc.

Also present during the occasion were Ms. Nandini Sibal- Wife of Mr. Anupam Sibal, Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology, Ms. Pooja Chauhan-Vice Chairperson, amity Humanity Foundation, Ms. Sapna Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, Amiown Schools along with other senior members of the Management and Directors and HoDs of Amity Universities.
