Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) organizes 3rd International Conference on ‘Manufacturing Excellence-(MANFEX 2016)’
To familiarize the budding engineers about manufacturing practices in Industry advanced technology and techno-economic challenges, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering- Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET)started 3rd International Conference on ‘Manufacturing Excellence-(MANFEX 2016)’ at Amity Campus, Sector 125 Noida.
The International Conference has an objective to provide a platform for exchange of ideas and dissemination of knowledge related to excellence in manufacturing sector amongst Academia, Industry experts, Research Scholars, Scientists and Entrepreneurs.
Welcoming the guests during inaugural session, Dr. Balvinder Shukla said that the global manufacturing landscape has been evolving at a very fast pace.She further added that to achieve higher productivity, lead time reduction and consistency in quality, organizations are required to strategize on improving operations, eliminating waste and creating lean processes. She emphasized that the Government of India has taken several initiatives to promote the growth of manufacturing sector, making it one of the most invested sector in India. She pointed that the continuous maintenance and updating of strong sector is essential to other high value-added sectors in the economy.
Prof. Vivek Kumar, HOD Mechanical Engineering, ASET set the context of the conference. He welcomed the guests. He presented a picture of global competitive landscape. He emphasized the need for achieving higher productivity, lower lead time, and waste elimination. The reiterated that the conference would go a long way in achieving industry-academia collaboration.
Prof. (Dr) K, M Soni, Dean Tech Domain, ASET said that the objective of MANFEX 2016 is to link researchers and practitioners from different areas of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering management to achieve Manufacturing Excellence. He also welcomed the guests.
Prof. (Dr) M. K Dutta, Jt. Actg Head ASET welcomed the guests. In his address, he talked about the need for greater industry-academia collaboration. He emphasized the need for research collaboration with top universities.
Sharing his views on manufacturing excellence, Mr. R B Madhekar, CEO, Reliable Business Management Support System said that in corporate scenario,Manufacturing Industry is global which focuses on various factors including customer’s needs, quality, pricing etc. He stressed that manufacturing excellence is working in accordance to specific needs of customers merged with innovative ideas. He pointed that the major parameter in consideration for growth of industry is to reduce the cost and increase the quality. He averred that the definition of quality is not only the satisfaction of customer or usage but also creating a brand through a loyal customer base. He advised the participants that to be a global leader in market, it is important to focus on innovation and market requirements and not only profit making.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saurabh Mohan Saxena, Chief operating Officer, Hero ZF Chassis Limited said that Manufacturing Excellence is about integrating sustained quality and improvement in manufacturing for the development of economy. He averred that manufacturing sector has a plenty of opportunities for growth and expansion, which promote extensive innovations in the sector. Dr. Saxena opined that there is a continuous need to bench mark the manufacturing practices against the best in the world and enhance competitiveness in sector.
During the occasion, Mr. R B Madhekar and Dr. Saurabh Mohan Saxena were conferred upon Amity Industry Excellence Awards for their immense contribution to growth and development of the sector.
During the two day International Conference, plenary sessions would be conducted on various topics“Manufacturing Excellence in India – Challenges to “Make in India”;“Manufacturing,Automation, Modeling and Simulation Lead Speakers”; “Efficient Energy Management,a Key to Robust Industrial Growth” and “Attracting &Retaining Talent – HR Challenges” amongst others.
