“Youth should take part in politics for reformation of society and politics”, suggests Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi during Amity youth Fest 2016

The second day of knowledge cum entertainment extravaganza, Amity youth Fest 2016 witnessed a series of entertaining cultural and mind blogging technical events at Amity Campus, Sector 125, Noida.

 

During Amity Youth Fest, Amity Law School – II conducted an Amity Mock Parliament wherein more than 260 students from 60 Universities/ Institutions/ colleges across India including IIT Rorkee, Delhi University, IIT Delhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Amity Law Schools and Banaras Hindu University amongst others participated.

 

The participants deliberated on current issues, putting forth their stances,defending their points and making assertions. The sessions abound with thought-provoking and in-depth debates, stimulating the minds of the students.

 

This year’s Amity Mock Parliament comprised of three Committees namely, Lok Sabha on theme “No confidence motion against NDA Government”; Stakeholders’ Meet on theme “Reviewing Intolerance in India” and Futuristic Crisis Committee 2030 on theme “Internal disturbance leading integration of India”.

 

The Valedictory Ceremony of Amity Mock Parliament witnessed the presence of eminent political personalities including Mr. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governer of Punjab & Haryana; Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and MoS for Minority Affairs; Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Former Chief Minister of Delhi & Former Governor of Kerala; Dr. Ashok K Chauhan,Founder President, Amity Group; Dr. (Mrs.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor,Amity University Uttar Pradesh and Dr. (Prof.) Gurinder Singh, Additional Group Vice Chancellor, Amity.

 

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kaptan Singh Solanki shared that before joining politics, he had been a professor for 34 years and the reason he joined Politics was to address the issues faced by society and to bring a change inthe Political system. He emphasized that it is important to make politics a service profession rather than a making business out of it. Stressing the importance of conducting mock Parliament sessions, Mr. Solanki said that many people consider such mock sessions as mockery but they fail to realize that these sessions are the training system for a better working of parliament. He stressed that youngsters should grasp the significance of such training as it gives them the right state of mind to enter politics and also, facilitates the entry of potential candidates into politics through their voting power. He averred that students focus a lot on getting a degree but youth of the nation should also pay attention on utilizing their education in the service of the nation. He pointed that great leaders have always emphasized on the value of education which not only meant getting a degree but implied holistic development of an individual. Mr. Solanki averred that youth is the answer of all problems prevailing in India, hence, they need to take charge of the leadership with good education and training if they want radical change in the country.

 

Lauding the efforts of Amity in conducting Mock Parliament session, Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that it is very important to organize such sessions. He said that although it is seen that political parties agree and disagree on various issues but when it comes to addressing issues related to national concern or integrity, the Parliamentarians unite for the development of the Nation. He mentioned that India has a distinctive democratic system as the nation runs elections throughout the year in different forms and different States and witnesses strings of controversial incidences throughout the year. But this has not affected the trust of people in Parliamentary system. He stressed that the voting percentage has been increasing every election and there have been 70% of new entrants in politics every year which clearly brings out the augmenting faith of people in democracy and politics. Mr. Abbas appealed to budding leaders that the youth should come forward to take part in politics as it is vital for the reformation of politics and society at large.

 

Sharing her views, Smt. Sheila Dikshit saidParliament is the most important set up in India and is the best in the world. We should be proud of it.” She mentioned that various changes and amendments have been brought in Parliament in accordance to the required situation.  She apprised that Parliament is an Institution where problems are discussed, solutions are suggested and subsequently, acts are formulated which are strategically applied across nation. She stressed that Indian Parliament has bonded the nation together and pointed out that sometimes, a lot of disruption is caused in Parliament, affecting the proceedings due to which it is unable to perform its duties. “It is necessary for people to respect the Institution of our country as without it we cannot progress the way we ought to progress” suggested Smt.Dikshit. Commending on the participation of youth in mock parliament sessions,Smt. Dikshit said that the humungous participation shows the interest of youthin Politics and their eagerness to change the society.

 

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said,“It’s a historical day for Amity to have such eminent leaders of unparallel stature amongst us.” He highlighted that every Amitian has four distinct qualities which are synergy of knowledge, urge to use one’s potential to fullest, urge to serve humanity and dedication to make India a Knowledge Superpower

 

During the second day of Amity Youth Fest 2016, Amity Institute of Space Science and Technology & Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering organized an AIRSHOW wherein the budding Aeronautical and Engineering students showcased their innovation and creativity by designing models of drones and flyers.

 

The show witnessed the participation of 20 students who displayed their models including RC plane, Water Rocket, Multi-rotor Drones, Quad copters, FighterCraft and Nitro Planes amongst others.

 

Amity Youth Fest is a concoction of the best of technologies,innovation, creativity, culture and fun. The mega event was a Roller Coaster ride from resonant argumentative debates to melodious performances, from hardcore rock shows to vigorous drama performances, from moves of a dancer to buzzer of a quizzer, from innovative quad copters to intelligently planned business strategies, from the angle of a photographer to gala Star Night.
