Star Health & Allied Insurance wins the inaugural match of 14th Amity Insurance Cricket Cup 2015-2016
Amity Institute of Insurance, Banking & Actuarial Science commenced 14th Amity Insurance Cricket Cup 2015-2016 and inaugural match was played between Star Health &Allied Insurance and HDFC Ergo General Insurance Co. wherein Star Health Team won the match with 10 wickets.
In this tournament 16 Insurance companies will participate and contribute to the noble cause of educating underprivileged girls.
HDFC Ergo team won the toss and chose to bat first. The opening batsman Mr. Rajat started the match off with a blast by scoring 25 runs and was well supported by Mr. Karan with 23 runs. The duo greatly boosted the morale of the team which went on to achieve a brilliant score of 136 runs on loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.Showcasing brilliant bowling skills, Mr. Ravi of Star Health Team took 3 wickets for the team.
The Second half of the match started with great enthusiasm by the opening pair who was challenged greatly by a marvelous balling performance by the opposing team.Sterling performances were delivered by the duo- Mr. Virag and Mr. Ajay of Star Health Team who smashed the boundary line with their runs and won the match with 10 wickets.
Mr. Ajay was declared the Man ofthe Match for his impeccable innings of 73 runs – Not Out.
Amity School Of Insurance, Banking and Actuarial Science organizes Amity Insurance Cricket Cup Tournament annually to support the underprivileged girl children, the registration and sponsorship amount of this annual event helps in raising funds for this noble project “Amitasha”.
Amitasha, a dream of Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, is to encourage and educate the unprivileged girl children to endow school, home and security for overall growth. Under the project over 1500 girls from the underprivileged sector of society are provided with the education, uniform, meal and are groomed to become leading ladies of their house.
Welcoming the distinguished guests from Insurance companies Prof. R.R Grover, Director,Amity School of Insurance and Actuarial Science, said that "It is a great opportunity extended by Amitasha for the Insurance professionals to assemble for the noble cause of uplifting the underprivileged girl children. It is a matter of pride to watch the underprivileged girl children receiving quality education, shoulder to shoulder with the privileged children. There is great need of obliterating gender bias from the society and bringing in greater women empowerment." Encouraging the participants to foster sportsmanship,he stressed that significance of sports lays in dynamic participation and teamwork and education holds no meaning if it is not related to human values.
