“Sangathan 2015- Inter- Institutional Sports Meet” concludes with Founder's day celebrations

The valediction of “Sangathan 2015- Inter- Institutional Sports Meet” at Amity Campus, Sector-125 presented a perfect picture of sportsmanship, leadership and unity in diversity with thousands of students, faculty members and staff from National and International Campuses of Amity present during the grandeur event.

The event commenced with an impressive and well coordinated March Past by 151 marching contingents comprising of more than 6, 000 students from Amity International Schools and Universities,the largest ever contingent in the history of Sports Event in any University.

Amitians took great pride inhoisting  107 ft tall National Flag, unfurled byDr. Ashok K Chauhan, which is the tallest National Flag ever hoisted by anyUniversity in India. It has dimensions of 30 feet by 20 feet and weighs 15 kgs

“Sangathan” is an annual, month long sports event organized in Amity to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst students. The Meet commemorates the birthday of Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan-Founder President, Amity Group. This year over 15,000 students from all Amity Campuses across India and abroad enthusiastically participated in various events including Swimming,Tennis, Badminton, Tug- of war, Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Chess, Squash and Shooting.

The ceremony was graced by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group, Dr. (Mrs.)Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Dr. Atul Chauhan-Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh; Dr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor,Amity University, Gurgaon, Mr. Ajeet Chauhan- Vice Chairman, Amity Directorate of Distance and Online Education, Ms. Sapna Chauhan- Vice chairperson, Amiown Schools, Ms. Pooja Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation, Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity School of Fashion Designing and other Senior members of the Management , Head of the Institutions, Directors, Faculty members and students of Amity.

The perfectly synchronized contingents evinced confidence, determination, fortitude reminding the audience of the soldiers marching ahead to prove their mettle and take the world head one. The contingent from Amity International School,Sector-44, Noida was declared “Best Marching Contingent in the Juniors’Category” and Amity Institute of Education, Noida emerged as the “Best Marching Contingent in the Seniors’ Category”

Dr. Ashok K Chauhan received the “Guard of Honor” from the chivalrous Cadets from Amity Indian Military College.

Sports Captains from various Institutes took turns and passed on the “Sangathan Torch” to finally light the “Khel Jyoti”

Welcoming the distinguished gathering and presenting a report of Sangathan 2015, Prof. Kalpana Sharma, Chairperson, Organizing Committee, Sangathan – 2015 said that during Sangathan 2015, 21 events were held for the students in the Boys and Girls category at various campuses along with 7 events held separately for the faculty and the staff members . She highlighted that over 855 matches were conducted in Amity Campuses and Universities during month long meet. She further shared that Sangathan 2015 witnessed the participation of 350 Students and 90 faculty members in the Vintage Games. She stressed that Sangathan is not just a competition but it is a platform for nurturing positivity and human values in students and is a lifetime experience, one of its kind for everyone associated with it.

Releasing the Souvenir of “Sangathan 2015” and an impressive Calendar for the year 2016 designed by Amity Institute of Wild Life Sciences, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan expressed his happiness over the sportsmanship demonstrated by the students during SANGATHAN 2015. Encouraging the students, Dr. Chauhan remarked, that the students of Amity have been equipped and groomed to achieve anything and everything and motivated them to dream high which will lead them to the pinnacle of success. He convincingly said that students of Amity with their professional competence and result oriented approach are real go getters and would prove to be an asset for any organization. Sharing his vision and mission, Dr. Chauhan stressed that very soon Amity will have its Universities and Campuses in every State and Union Territory of India. Dr. Chauhan thanked each and every one for making Sangathan 2015 a great success.

During the occasion, a book titled “Winged Friends” authored by Dr. (Mrs.) B Shukla-Vice Chancellor, Amity University was also released. The Book beautifully captures the birds’ species that were seen at various locations in Amity University Campus, Sector-125, Noida during the year 2014-2015. The photographs in the book have been clicked by the students of Wild Life Sciences Department of Amity

The eagerly awaiting students who competed and surpassed their competitors in various Sports were felicitated with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and Trophies. The team of Amity Law School, Noida lifted the Winners’ Trophy with 17 Gold Medals,17 Silver Medals and 9 Bronze Medals in their kitty.

The team of Amity School of Engineering and Technology bagged the Second Position with 8 Gold medals,  10 Silver and 13 Bronze medals and the combined Team of Amity School of Fashion Technology, Amity School of Telecom Engineering and Management, Amity Institute of Space Science and Technology and Amity Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology secured Third Position with  9 Gold Medals,  3 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.

On the eve of the valediction of Sangathan 2015, students from various Campuses and Universities of Amity presented a wonderful ensemble of cultural performances ranging from classical dance to regional and contemporary dance.
