Amity University signs MoU with University of Swaziland, Southern Africa
In sync with India-Africa Forum Summit’s aim of building strong bilateral ties between two continents, Amity University signed a MoU with University of Swaziland, Southern Africa at Amity Campus, Sector 125, Noida.
The MoU was signed by Prof.Cisco M Magagula, Vice Chancellor, University of Swaziland and Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Additional Vice Chancellor, Amity in presence of Mr. Bertram B Stewart, Principal Secretary, EDF NAO, Ministry of Economic Planning,Govt. of Swaziland; Justice M. Thwala-Dean -University of Swaziland; Mr. M VDlamini, CEO, Royal Science and Technology Park, Swaziland; Mr. Vuli Simelane, Acting CEO, Uniswa Foundation,Swaziland; Mr. Rajiv Ahuja, Sr. Vice President, Angelique International Limited; Mr. Ashish Gupta, Senior General Manager, Angelique InternationalLimited; Mr. Ajit Chauhan, Vice Chairman, Amity Directorate of Distance Online Education and Dr. W. Selvamurthy President Amity Science Technology andInnovation Foundation amongst other eminent scientists and senior officialsof Amity.
The MoU outlines various possibleareas of potential collaboration including mutual development of E-learning& distance learning programs; exchange of academic information andco-development of syllabi; training of and visits by faculty members &Staff; India Immersion Program; exchange of students and developing studyabroad programs; holding Joint workshops, symposium, seminars, conferences andpublications in areas of mutual academic, research and innovation interests;submitting Joint Projects by Scientists /Rresearchers from both sides; fillingof joint Patents and Joint supervision and co-guidance of Thesis and JointResearch.
Sharing his views on mutualpartnership, Prof. Cisco M Magagula said that India and Africa have ahistoric relationship which has grown into a sustainable relationship withtime. He mentioned that Swaziland is focusing on the promotion the educationsector as human resource is core key to development. He assured mutual supportin areas of education and research sector to Amity.
Presenting a brief onSwaziland-India University Partnership, Justice M. Thwala said that thecollaboration of University of Swaziland and Amity will create a new paradigmin education sector which will further enhance the engagement between twocountries by keeping in view Indian capacities and African aspirations. Hehighlighted that University of Swaziland is a National University which wasestablished in year 1982 with vision of leadership through excellence ineducation. He apprised that the solution to challenges faced by Swaziland ispartnerships and funding in various sectors. He mentioned that IndianUniversities have a track record in ICT and Biotechnology and collaboration inthese areas will be beneficial for the growth of African education sector.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.)Gurinder Singh said that Amity is one of the largest players in Africanregion. He further added that Amity had created a revolution in e-learningthrough Pan-African e-Network with priority on tele-education service. Hestressed that the basic objective of the Pan-African e-Network project is tohelp Africa in capacity building by way of imparting quality education tostudents. Dr. Singh proposed an establishment of Amity e-learning centre atUniversity of Swaziland and also devising of Skill Development programmes forthe young African students
