Students of Amity Mayur Vihar along with German students interact with Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri. Manish Sisodia

12 students of Amity International School, Mayur Vihar along with 11 visiting German Students visited and interacted with dynamic Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi,Shri. Manish Sisodia on 8th October at the Delhi Secretariat.

As part of the year long Student Exchange Program between both the Institutions in India and Germany, the first delegation of 11 German students from Hamburg are presently being hosted by the students of Amity Mayur Vihar.

The Principal, Dr.Priyanka Mehta felicitated Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi with asculpture of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, prepared by the school Sculpture Club.

The Deputy Chief Minister greeted the students and inquired German students about their experience and stay in India. They were greatly applauded by him for their impeccable chanting of the Gayatri Mantra. The students of Amity, Mayur Vihar from Class X-XII discussed his role as the Education Minister and his vision for the education sector.

Hon’ble Minister emphasized on the need to break the monotony of the education system,and promote the importance of activity-based, interesting and holistic curriculum. The need of the hour, he stressed is to focus on inculcating humanistic values and ethics in the younger generation. The students were apprised of the difference between literacy and education, and he envisioned achieving 100% education, and not just 100% literacy. Walking down the memory lane, he genially acknowledged that he himself never liked the system based on rote-learning skills in his time.

When the students inquired about his daily routine, he admitted that it was quite strenuous, but the sense of satisfaction at the end of the day, motivates him to keep going on. He further added that if one loves his job, then it couldnever be boring.

His message to the young Amitians and Germans was to develop interest in whatever they pursue in life. This approach would help them scale great heights of successand satisfaction.
