“Cisco India Networking Academy Conference 2015” commences at Amity
Amity Institute of Information Technology (AIIT) started two day “Cisco India Networking Academy Conference 2015” at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sunil K Khatri- Director, AIIT welcomed the distinguished guests from CISCO Networking Academy and shared that the Conference has been attended by Eighty One CISCO Instructors from thirty nine CISCO Networking Academies from the states including Tamil Nadu, Delhi &NCR, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad,Gujrat and Haryana. He stressed that the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a Digital India and making smart cities across India needs lots of experts in the area of Big Data, Cloud Computing, Wireless Sensor Networks and interdisciplinary work of these areas. He stated that it is now the responsibility of Cisco for training and adding value in this area through the networking academies. He further shared that CISCO is planning to launch Certification program and courses in the area of Internet of Things (IOT) which is going to be very important aspect of making smart cities as everything is going to be a part of internet, integrated with each other.
Dr.(Mrs.) B Shukla- Vice Chancellor, Amity University,while addressing the CISCO Trainers, said that CISCO has provided a unique platform for academia and industry to come together, interact and share their expertise, skills and innovative ideas with each other, which is the need of the hour. She called upon the Instructors to make the most out of the deliberations and discussions during the two day Conference since the technology changes very fast and it is imperative to be updated with the latest trends and technologies.
Sharing her views on Social Innovation Group (SIG) & presenting an update on Networking Academy, Ms. Anuradha Sharma, Program Manager, SIG, Cisco Systems said that CISCO adds value to the countries it operates in through CSR initiatives, Shared Value Programmes, Social Innovation Groups etc. She stressed that SIG deals in education and skill development, engaging with Government and public- private partnerships to bring value to the society andto the country. She shared that SIG 2015 has three main objectives- Development of Human Capital, Workforce Development and Community Enablement. She appraised the gathering that more than 1 lakh students have benefitted from 177 CISCO Training Academies across India. She stressed that the next big thing is“Internet” and efforts have been accelerated across the world to digitize everything,connecting people, processes and data. The clarion call would be to fill the skill gap caused in the wake of the creation of numerous job opportunities. I tis estimated that in the field of ICT alone, there will be 2 million vacant positions globally by 2022 and Data Science has already been witnessing 40%increase in demand from 2011-2013. To fill up this gap, she remarked that CISCO has started Courses aligned to Job skills and averred that the mission of CISCO is to build the workforce for tomorrow.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ranjana Nagpal- Deputy DG, National Informatics Centre brief edaudience about the work NIC has been doing in the project “Digital India” with special reference to development of infrastructure and running it smoothly. She also outlined the contribution of NIC in National Knowledge Network, National Cloud- “Meghraj”. She remarked that technology and the requirements from Technology change very fast and NIC has to keep innovating in order to cater to the different requirements of the users. She called upon the CISCO Trainers to nurture in students a lifelong yearning for knowledge by giving them assignments and projects which could help them to think beyond the textbooks.She encouraged students to be sincere and diligent since sincerity always pays and there is no shortcut to hard work.
Mr. Ananth B S, Technical Manager, Cisco Networking Academy, while sharing his views, stressed that teaching is the best way of learning since through regular interaction and queries posed by students; a teacher/instructor is bound to keep himself updated. He briefed the audience that CISCO has been running “Instructor Professional Development Programmes” to continuously update the Instructors including “Global IPD Week” wherein various new programmes and the Best practices for teaching are discussed. He called upon the Instructors to register them for the upcoming Global IPD Week scheduled from September 28- October 2, 2015 and benefit from the various sessions planned as part of the event.
During the day, CISCO Instructors share their views on different topics such as Mr. Shailesh Jadhav, ITC, CRISP, CISCO Network Academy shared his views on “Configuring IPv6 for dynamic Routing Protocols, Mr. Naresh Kumar & Mr. Shubhajit (ASCs) on Academy Curriculum & Tools and others.
