Amity Institute of Physiotherapy celebrates World Physiotherapy Day
Amity Institute of Physiotherapy celebrated 7th WorldPhysiotherapy Day (WPD) at University Campus, Sector-125, Noida. The theme of this year’scelebrations was “Movement for Health”
On September7, a vibrant cultural progrmmme was organized inwhich students from various Physiotherapy Institutions across Delhi and NCR participatedincluding Amar Jyoti Institute ofPhysiotherapy, Indian Spinal Cord Injury Center (ISIC), Manav Rachna Instituteof Physiotherapy and ITS-Ghaziabad.
OnSeptember 8, 2015, four renowned Physiotherapists including Dr Narkeesh Aruguman HoD Physiotherapy fromPunjabi University, Dr. Narkeesh Aruguman- HoD Physiotherapy from Punjabi University, Dr.Deepak Malhotra PT from Jamia Hamdard, Dr Chitra Kataria from ISIC and Dr. RamShanmugam from Safdarjung Hospital shared their views with the buddingPhysiotherapists.
Sharinghis views on “Spinal Alignment inrelation to Clinical Practice”, Dr NarkeeshAruguman HoD Physiotherapy from Punjabi University said that the specificity and sensitivity of PhysicalExamination is more for PIVD cases and through Physiotherapy by using ManualTherapy, the Alignment can be restored and remarkable improvement can be seenin few days in the patient.
Speakingon “Use of Therabands in Physiotherapy”,Dr Deepak Malhotra PT from Jamia Hamdard highlighted the effectiveness and salient features of thetheraband exercises and their advantage over free weights.
Dr. Chitra Kataria from ISIC, while speaking on Hydrotherapy – Recent Advances in Physiotherapy apprised studentswith the effectiveness of Hydrotherapy and various methods along with the dosand don’ts of Hydrotherapy.
Addressingthe gathering on Burn Rehabilitation,Dr Ram Shanmugam from Safdarjung Hospitalshared his experience of managing the burn cases and highlighted the peculiarrequirements of chest physiotherapy in cases of burns.
Lt Gen PD Bhargava- Group Deputy ViceChancellor emphasized the significance of Physiotherapy incases of chronic low back cases and PIVD cases.
Prof W Selvamurthy- President, AmityScience, Technology and Innovation Foundation stressedon the important role of PTs in all the cases.
Duringthe occasion, a Yoga Session and Zumba FitnessSession was also organized for Faculty and students who wholeheartedlyparticipated.
