Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES) organises Farmers’ Field Day cum Training Programme” Jewar District Gautam Buddha Nagar
Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES) organised “ Farmers’ Field Day cum Training Programme”at Village Dhansiya Block, Jewar District Gautam Buddha Nagar. The Training Programme aimed to increase the productivity of the fields of farmers by informing them about the new varieties of sesame seeds and demonstrating their cultivation in the fields.
The programme was sponsored by Directorate ICAR- All India Coordinated Research project on Sesame and Niger, Jabalpur under National Food Security Mission, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Under the programme, the experts from Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES) appraised over 40 farmers and youth of Village Dhansiya Block,Jewar District Gautam Buddha Nagar with the progressive variety of Sesame – “S.T.-1” and gave demonstration of the same on 20 fields.
Dr. N P Singh- Director, Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES) informed farmers of the ways through which the newer variety of sesame seeds can be cultivated and the care that has to be taken throughout. He advised them not to use water during the flowering of sesame seeds since it will de-flower the seeds, thereby destroying the crop. He briefed them that they can use the new variety of Sesame for two years and by updating other farmers of their village and near by areas with the new variety and techniques to cultivate them,they can immensely benefit themselves and other farmers also.
Mr. Ishpal Singh- Agriculture Division, Gautam Buddha Nagar also participated in the discussions and deliberations and informed farmers that they should sow the seeds on time and use Quinalphos, anorganothiophosphate pesticide, for saving the crops from harmful insects and pests including bollworms, borers, leafhoppers, mites, thrips etc. He informed farmers about the programmes initiated by Uttar Pradesh Government for the benefit of farmer and their fields.
The farmers expressed their deep gratitude to Amity University and its experts for organizing such an informative and interactive platform for them to get their queries addressed and suggested them to keep organizing such training programmes in future as well specially in the areas of Wheat, Mustard and Pulses.
Duringthe programme, the farmers had elaborate discussions and deliberations with the experts from Amity Centre for Agricultural Extension Services (ACAES) wherein they asserted that the new variety of Sesame seeds will increase the productivity of their fields by 6-7 quintal per hectare.
