AITEM Organizes HR Conclave on Importance of Industry Academia Interaction for Development of Human Capital in ICT Sector
Amity Institute of Telecom Engineering and Management (AITEM) organized its annual HR Conclave on 18th of September 2014 . The Main feature of the conclave was a Panel Discussion Session on the topic Importance of Industry Academia Interaction for Development of Human Capital in ICT Sector. The Conclave saw the presence of eminent names from the Telecom World – Mr. I.N. Kishore – Director H.R. from Alcatel Lucent University, Mr. Nirmal Singh Raghav – Vice President H.R., North , from Idea Cellular , Mr. Anil Mohanti – Head – H.R. , North from Reliance Jio , Mr. Vikas Dua – Associate Vice President , from Wipro , Mr. Shailesh Goyal – G.M. HR from Times Internet Ltd. participated in the panel discussion. Mr.Gautam Passi – G.M. HR from Bharti Infratel moderated the session.
The discussion was centered around student-centric questions like :– The Technical skills students should acquire which are not covered in course curriculum in order to become industry-ready when they pass out from College , What do the Industry leaders expect from the students during an interview process ? Factors which enhance students’ employability during interview process , How to make a good first impression ? Tasks students should take upto bridge the gap between industry & academia like live market researchprojects etc.
Vikas Dua , a seasoned bulk recruiter from campuses and well as lateral mid level hiring from Wipro elaborated on aspects which the students should focus on besides Technical knowledge. Good Communication and Interpersonal skills , along with the right attitude is what they look for in students during campus interviews. Mr.Nirmal Singh Raghav from Idea Cellular opined that energy level and drive to perform are two very important aspects youngsters must possess. ‘ If you know WHYs then HOWs automatically follow ‘ – students need to ask themselves the purpose behind the task assigned and the way to do it will become clear automatically.
Mr. Mohanti from Reliance Jio emphasized on the fact that the Engineers of tomorrow need to take the initial years of struggle in their stride and need to be ready to ‘ dirty their hands in the field’ while learning their jobs well. The mantra to grow lies there.
Conceptual Clarity is another most important aspect the students must possess.Career Morphing is a term the students must learn to accept in life .They need to focus on doing what they enjoy doing most and build their careers around those and success will follow.
The discussion ended with a Q&A session by faculty and students to the panel which the panel enjoyed replying .Adding a few useful last minuet tips for the students Mr. Nirmal. Singh wrapped up the session on a humorous note with few lines from his favorite poem.
