Festivities of Diwali begin with Charity at Amity Business School

For the first time, students of Amity Business school decided to celebrate Diwali with the novel idea of selling hand crafted items of made by NGOs , the proceeds of which went to the respective NGOs.

As a part of Human Values Year Initiative 2014, students of MBA- General (Class of 2016) from Amity Business School organized a “Diwali Fete” wherein the students exhibited and sold Diwali Merchandisemade by 8 NGOs located across Delhi/NCR including Cheshire Home, Sparsh, Goonj, Smile Foundation, Tihar Jail, Muskaan and Antardrishti . The revenue generated from the sale of Diyas, Eco-friendly Diyas, Candles, Jute Bags, Cookies, Decorative items was givento the respective NGOs.

The Fete received overwhelming response from the students, Faculty Members, Head of the Institutions. Within 2 hours, the students were able to sell products worth Rs. 60, 000.Some stalls were evenre-stocked by the NGO, looking at favorable response. MBA students beamed with unrestrained enthusiasm, joy, contentment and a sense of pride for being able to contribute to the noble cause.

Sharing his views, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal- Director, Amity Business School said that every year, MBA students enthusiastically participate in Human Value initiatives which, over a period of time,bring noticeable difference in their personalities. They become self introspective and evince humility, generosity, altruism and a concern for society and fellow human beings. Talking about “Diwali Fete”, Dr. Bansal expressed his joy over the huge success ofthe noble initiative. He shared that the Institute has planned to raise Rs. 1 Lakh from the sales of the Diwali products. He shared his plans of re-organising the initiative on Friday October 17, 2014 for generating more contributions for the NGOs.
